A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Laban-Media/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page.

Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I have re-read the guidelines and i now understand the reason for my block.I didn't understand the guidelines well enough to know that adding an adjective after his name suggests that the account is for a business or for advertising purposes. I would like to insist that this account is not whatsoever intended to promote anything but to contribute to Wikipedia's growth of knowledge and the social know-how of Mr. Laban. No compensation is needed only but from me. This page was created to be part of the first steps taken to ensure that African and in this instance Kenyan audiences get to know a little bit of background of the journalists they watch everyday. Laban-Media (talk) 08:17, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

If you are not Mr. Laban, you cannot use his name as your username. If he or others are paying you to make these edits, you must declare as a paid editor(your comment "no compensation is needed only but from me" is unclear to me). Wikipedia has no interest in enhancing the "social know-how" of Mr. Laban or in promoting Kenyan/African journalists. The organizations that these journalists work for should have information about them on their websites. Wikipedia is only interested in summarizing what independent reliable sources with significant coverage state about people shown to meet the special Wikipedia definition of a notable person. Since you don't seem to see how what you were doing is promotional, there are no grounds to remove the block. 331dot (talk) 09:08, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
