Darren Matthews

[edit]

Please stop editing the 'Profile' section of the Darren Matthews page. These changes are not necessary. -Soltak 17:39, 16 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

No I will not. If you want to challenge the changes present your arguments in Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Professional wrestling.

  • I'll withdraw my complaint. I reviewed the materials you cited and am quite embarrassed to say that your completely right. My apologies for the entire incident. I'd make this same comment on the projects page but there's some issue with my IP address. Some idiot calling himself "Cowsman" is running about vandalizing things and, as I am cursed with AOL, I can't edit anything "wikitalk"until the ban expires. -Soltak 23:56, 16 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
You're forgiven.

I have now moved Shin'ya Hashimoto to Shinya Hashimoto, I trust you that it was the correct thing to do. You need have the sysop proviledges to move pages atop existing ones. Before becoming administrator yourself, you can list the page in question to Wikipedia:Requested moves and someone will do the move for you, unless contested. jni 07:25, 21 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Is this guy starting to get on your nerves as much as he is mine? he really doesn't like getting proved wrong i had added a side note correcting his mistaken information on Phatcat68 talk page, but later when i got back i had noticed he had deleted my comment and completally changed his... im sure there has got to be something against doin that. Anyway sorry to disturb you --- Paulley 18:29, 23 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Not quite sure why it posted two put what-the-hey. Im glad im not the only one thats noticed all this, i believe it is to do with uping his edit count as far as i can tell --- Paulley 09:26, 24 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The championship headers

[edit]

I recieved your feedback, and I have seen the headers all over in many different ways. There should be a consensus on what the headers should be titled. I have done no wrong. Mcfly85 06:18, 31 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

Hello. Please don't merge "references" and "external links" into a single section. References are links which provided information used to write the article, while external links offer more information than the article alone provides. A reference is only of interest to a fact checker, while an external link supplements the article. The two are distinct and should therefore be separated. Thank you. ROH

[edit]

hi, i saw you made edits o the info i put on the Ring of Honor article, i cant say i know too much about ROH but you removed the part about #1 contendership throphy.... and im really sure that existed. i know the ranking system was a part of ROH so was the throphy a part of that, or a seperate system again? --- Paulley 11:01, 19 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Career tables of mixed martial artists

What's up. I'd like to discuss about changing career tables of MMA fighters. Can you come to here talk page of Tito Ortiz ? Yappakoredesho 08:55, 25 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

[edit]

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Cutter

[edit]

as we have now gone to using the cutter name should we do the same with the "Stunner" (Three quarter facelock jawbreaker) --- Paulley 08:44, 26 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

yes Mikey Whipreck's naming is earlier but the move is known as a stunner and i think it metions that the Stunner name is often refered to when the move is metioned in the section itself (which i think i wrote in the first place) ---- Paulley 10:54, 26 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, it wasn't suppose to sound like a negative comment... i knew what you meant in your reply --- Paulley 12:33, 27 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Changing of the pwstatbox

[edit]

Sorry about that, I did open the "what links here" page and work my way through it, but I must have missed Nash. McPhail 12:18, 25 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sabin's Future Shock

[edit]

I haven't seen the move in question myself, so I'm only assuming that by "Double leg fisherman buster" he is referring to a muscle buster. It might just be a very slight variation of the fisherman brainbuster. Anyway, I'll defer to you on this matter, because moves are definitely not my forte. McPhail 16:29, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Fireman's carry powerslam

[edit]

Why did you remove the Fireman's carry powerslam? I will revert your removal unless I get a proper reason. The Samoan Driver is a very different move.
Lakes 19:33, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted and cleaned up Death Valley driver and Samoan Driver.
Lakes 19:58, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Well its seems silly that we have four moves on one page all listed as John Cena's FU it is a fireman's Carry slam variation.... and he did begin to use the samoan driver as the FU but i dont really see where you are getting the powerdlam from --- Paulley 21:45, 15 October 2005 (UTC) --- Plus Rikishi's Driver is an over the shoulder belly to belly piledriver not a samoan driver (as a noted finisher in the WWE smackdown video games)[reply]
I dont think it was just named that for the game (though the smackdown series has been known to take real names of moves and give them a simmiler but different name, usually japanese moves like professional wrestling aerial attacks#Shiranui which was called Shinobi, and then Ninja in the games)... Anyway the samoan driver name seems to be widely used, and as for John Cena he used it but only for a brief period in July this year --- Paulley 10:24, 16 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Fights record box

[edit]

You have made a new template of fights record box, haven't you? Could you write down about it and its details in the Wikiproject page please like this and this otherwise I can't recognize what is going on MMA articles, and it is unkind for new Participants of wikiproject MMA in the future. Don't forget that edditers of MMA articles are not only you. OK? Yappakoredesho 11:20, 21 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Arn Anderson

[edit]

Thanks for the minor edit to the Arn Anderson article. It made the section look much better.

PS. I saw the conversation above about me. Sorry if I disturbed you all before. I dont mean to make mistakes like that. As for the edit count thing, Im not TRYING to make errors to make corrections. I sometimes write and when I was done writing it didnt make sense at all, so I made the correction. Sorry for the problems. SWD316 19:44, 19 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Succession boxes

[edit]

Wow, those are the succession boxes I made yesterday at the CM Punk article. The only one of those mistakes I do is the first one, the example: The header should be "XYZ Championship", not "XYZ Champions". The other one's I do the right way. I think someone, not sure who, is also going threw the big promotion wrestlers, Chris Benoit, Bret Hart and others, and making the other errors that you mentioned. But not those articles in specific. Thanks for telling me. I'll go back through my work and fix the above mistake throughout the articles I already edited. If your wondering the order Im going in, if it wasn't already noticable, Im going in alphabetical order in the Category: Professional wrestlers. I am currently at American professional wrestlers in the letter "B". It takes a long time. Thanks again. SWD316 15:16, 27 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You might want to request protection for the Franklin Lashley article - the anonymous editor seems fairly determined to continue changing it, and has become abusive at points. [1] McPhail 23:01, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I was just wondering why you thought that the article I thought should be merged should just be deleted. I don't know anything about wrestling, so I can't comment on it's suitability for deletion - it's just that I didn't see it listed and thought it was suitable for the page I suggested. Howie 00:57, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ah thanks for that! Now that you've mentioned the name of the user and the name of the article it's obvious that it's something (s)he made up! That'll teach me to pay more attention in the future! Howie 01:10, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Steve Corino

[edit]

Question,

Steve Corino is not a real source? I have regular contact with the man and recieved the information from him specifically to back up keeping the info about him and his engagement on the site.

Steve Corino Continued.

[edit]

If you want to confirm the information with the man, just go to his website, get his AIM name and contact him yourself. He saw the information last night before you saw fit to remove it again and gave his nod to it being there. If you would do the follow up like I ALWAYS know to do you would find the information to be credible. If you are such a hot editor, do the damn work for yourself. JMPrice 19:41, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Steve Corino Continued.

[edit]

I was not the original poster of the information. If you had taken the time to look at the original post date versus my join date you would have seen a HUGE difference. I hope all Wiki users are not as rude and obnoxious as you have been towards me. JMPrice 02:30, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Lakes, i was wondering which is correct concerning the amount of times Raven has won the WWF/E Hardcore Championship... the Scott Levy article repeatedly states he is a 39 time champion, but the hardcore title page and its history only show a record of him winning the title on 26 occasions??? --- Paulley 13:42, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sure the title history includes house shows but i would like to get an offical number soon so we can make sure --- Paulley 14:03, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
i have searched Title historys for the belt all, including these three highly reliable sources ([2], [3], [4]) that take into account house show changes state that he has held the belt 26. I think this would be considered more reliable an interview --- Paulley 14:24, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
well this is the one that doesnt match up
wwe hardcore championship [26]
raven - columbia, sc [wwe house show]
won from: bradshaw on 07.28.02
defeated by: justin credible on 07.28.02

but if this is correct the means Credible has had one more extra reign as champ and that Steven Richards won the title from Credible rather than Raven... or that stevn richards and credible are the wrong way round on wiki's title history... hold on i think i got it --- Paulley 14:59, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

"style set in the professional wrestling wikiproject"

[edit]

Can you please point me to where the specific style guidelines have been posted? If they exist, then I'd like to detail my complaints about them. With those "styles", the infobox on pages like André the Giant just looks like crap. It's too wide. -- Netoholic @ 18:37, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

"it doesn't do much because of the deficiencies of browsers" - most of WP's traffic uses IE. However you feel about that, we need to make sure our pages don't suck. I am going to change the template to 20em, with a slightly reduced font-size to counteract your worries. That is the same size as the primary bio template - Template:Infobox Biography. I'd rather have a little extra white space than have the box expand widely. -- Netoholic @ 18:57, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Question about wrestler infobox

[edit]

Could the "birth date" field be made optional without having to edit all the existing articles using the infobox? Currently, the birth date field is compulsory, but there are several wrestlers whose date of birth is unknown. Thanks. McPhail 17:28, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. McPhail 17:39, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Infobox stuff

[edit]

Cool, I'll do that from now on. Thanks for the tips! --Karl Freske 13:49, 15 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you edited this page to add "Inverted facelock into spinning diving reverse DDT" to Tanahashi's Finishing and Signature Moves section. Your edition seems to be the same move already listed as "Sling Blade." If I'm not thinking correctly here please tell me because the Sling Blade is the only move I can think of that matches your discription that I've seen Tanahashi do.

I was going to delete it, but I though I'd make sure first before doing so. :-) (Stephen Day 23:59, 4 February 2006 (UTC))[reply]

OK, I know the move you're talking about. Sorry for the confusion. (Stephen Day 05:08, 5 February 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Please tell me where you are getting his "correct" height from, because I'd really like to know how you, for a fact, know any other website is factual. --Naha|(talk) 18:05, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I understand about WWE.com for the most part. However, on this one particular wrestler I have something to say about it. I had the opportunity to meet Oscar Gutierrez a few years ago in California when I was visiting my grandparents in Oakland (very charasmatic guy btw). I happen to be 5'3" tall, and he was taller than me. Does this mean that he is 5'6"? No, just that he is taller than 5'3". Can I prove it? No, I guess not. Oh well. --Naha|(talk) 18:34, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Chris Benoit

[edit]

Sorry, I didn't think it would be controversial. I'll move it back. Indefatigable 17:02, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

CM Punk

[edit]

Why did you remove the info about CM Punk's name origin's from Backyard wrestling?

here is the quote from punk's former partner

AL: The CM in CM Venom stands for Chick Magnet, right?

VENOM: Yeah, at first it was just Venom. And when Punk and I formed our alliance back in the old days, we dubbed ourselves Chick Magnets. And for some reason it just sounds much cooler with the CM in front of the names. CM Punk, CM Venom, it has a nice ring to it. It's not just Punk or Venom, it's a little bit different. Some people didn't care what it meant, some people knew what it meant. It was something to differentiate from everything else. People are like, you're still CM Venom? I said, yeah, it's still CM Punk, too. I liked the way it sounds and I'm sure (Punk) did, too. Let him keep his, I'll keep mine.

12.34.246.4 20:00, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you think him participating in a tournament is not notable? If that is your stance, why have you not gone to pages like Rob Van Dam's or Big Show and deleted all those things coveraging their participating in a tournament. THE ALLAAAAARRRMRM Clock

Your modifications to the Infobox Wrestler code

[edit]

Hi,

I'm a bit perplexed about your changes to Template:Infobox Wrestler. Could you please clarify what difference(s) did you actually implement? --Gennaro Prota 00:14, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Real lucha name dealie

[edit]

If you look at places like Luchawiki (link on the Lucha Libre page), you'll see that they do not publish the real names of masked wrestlers unless they have lost their mask or are deceased. Wrestling publications in Mexico like Box y Lucha do not publish real names either. If we give B.J. Whitmer his privacy and leave his real name out of the article, I don't see why we should disrespect Wagner's privacy and give out his name and ignore lucha libre traditions.--Darren Jowalsen 18:40, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wagner (and any other masked luchador for that matter) is just as protective as someone like Whitmer about his identity but he does not have the time to scour English wrestling websites or English publications like the Observer to make sure people aren't leaking out his name.. It seems to me to be a slight bias against him because he is Mexican not active in the English IWC.--Darren Jowalsen 20:15, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
