Some Advice

[edit]

Hello, LaughingManiac,

Regarding your comment on WP:ANI about the weaponization of schizophrenia, since you have chosen to self-identify as schizophrenic, I think it might be a wise idea to consider changing your username to something more neutral that can't be used as a weapon against you and doesn't color other editors' perceptions of you as an editor. I'm just talking now as a fellow editor who skimmed through your report on ANI, not as an administrator. I just think that there are people out there who might have prejudice against your condition and your username reinforces some of these negative and baseless opinions on this mental health condition. But, of course, it's your choice. Happy editing! Liz Read! Talk! 23:00, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Liz, thank you for your concern.
The truth is, this username predates my diagnosis. But of course, you make a very fair point, and I have thought about changing it. Given my recent areas of contribution, I think it might be a good idea at this point. Do you know whereabouts to do so? LaughingManiac (talk) 23:34, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
All right, I've figured it out. Thanks for the suggestion, and the invitation to the Teahouse! NewBorders (talk) 18:47, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
