Welcome
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. It is great that you can help with this project. Here are suggested readings that sometimes apply to new editors: WP:SECONDARY and WP:COI. The gist of these guidelines are:
- Wikipedia prefers citations to reviews and books, not primary journal references (tens of thousands appear annually). Citing secondary sources is the encyclopedic style.
- Do not cite yourself or your colleagues. It's called conflict of interest. Many new editors mainly cite themselves or colleagues. That behavior is inappropriate.
If you have questions, many editors can offer advice. Happy editing and keep up the generous work, --Smokefoot (talk) 14:26, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
Deletion discussion about Utilisateur:Lewisiscrazy
[edit]Hello, Lewisiscrazy,
I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Utilisateur:Lewisiscrazy should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Utilisateur:Lewisiscrazy .
If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
Thanks,

Speedy deletion nomination of Utilisateur:Lewisiscrazy
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice that Utilisateur:Lewisiscrazy, a page that you created, has been tagged for deletion. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It appears to be a test page. (See section G2 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do, and take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.
- It appears to be about something made up, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.)
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Userpage
[edit]Hello. I have moved your userpage into the appropriately-named userspace on English Wikipedia. Your userpage is now located at User:Lewisiscrazy. Sorry for the misunderstanding with the deletion attempt. I believe that the nominators did not realize that "Utilisateur" was French for "User" and therefore didn't recognize it as a misplaced userpage.
Tout va bien. Bonne continuation... --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 16:11, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
Check out other articles
[edit]You dedication to the film voltammetry page is admirable. You might, however, look at other articles to gain some sense of tone. In general, WP:SECONDARY and (even better) WP:TERTIARY sources provide support for the claims in article. So the idea of segregating a list of reviews is strange, because such segregation suggests that reviews are something other than the backbone of support. At least in theory, we are not writing a technical review for Chemical Reviews or Chem Soc Revs, where statements are supported by primary references. --Smokefoot (talk) 15:37, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Smokefoot: Thanks. I understand. The thing is that the content of the article is so basic that I could support it by just a couple of references, e.g. the book of Bard and one or two reviews. Regarding fast-scan CV, I also thought that it would make sense to cite the original papers by Laviron (from the 80's) because that is where the information can be found. I agree that the list of reviews is not ideal, the goal may have been to give an idea of the different groups using this technique... I have removed it for now, I'll try to improve this (slowly)! Thanks and feel free to contribute. --Lewisiscrazy (talk) 15:46, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- I should add, that your contribution is excellent and will be valued by hundreds of readers. So dont get too hung up on my micro-advice. --Smokefoot (talk) 15:47, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- Dear @Smokefoot: By any chance, do you know if WP can republish figures published in open access by ACS? https://pubs.acs.org/page/policy/authorchoice/index.html
