Again, welcome! Uricdivine (talk) 02:06, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

We appreciate you contribution but In your recent edit on Boyz-n-the-Hood it appears that you have added excessive plot summary which is not part of Wikipedia police due to larger plot amount making it hard for a reader to follow up. Here we try to make it as simple, accurate, reliable as possible. Cheers happy editing

Blocked

[edit]
Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because it appears that you are not here to build an encyclopedia.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Is it possible to unblock me? I have returned this time as a serious editor and have found several Wikipedia pages that could use some updating. IHaveTheGloriousPurposeOfRestoringTheBoysNTheHoodPage (talk) 03:57, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
same here toooooo 2601:201:8681:3CF0:DC50:E501:4CD7:DA91 (talk) 20:14, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I understand why I was blocked and you were certainly right in doing so. I had created my account on a dare from some friends who wanted to see what would happen if I made the edit which I was later blocked for. They were influenced by an article they had read on Buzzfeed about that particular Wikipedia page, and I went along because I assumed it was harmless fun. I had no intention of ever logging back into my account again, but today, I came back to make a genuine edit, and discovered that I had been blocked. I would like to request an unblock because I genuinely have no intention of ever doing anything ridiculous here again, and would like to begin doing some serious editing. And one more thing: how can I change my username? IHaveTheGloriousPurposeOfRestoringTheBoysNTheHoodPage (talk) 02:17, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Good thing you asked, since I was surprised you weren't blocked for your username as well, and without an approved request for a new username this request must be declined IMO. Change your unblock request to one formatted per {{unblock-un}} Daniel Case (talk) 06:37, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

They were influenced by an article they had read on Buzzfeed about that particular Wikipedia page, and I went along because I assumed it was harmless fun. It was actually one of the only dares I have ever accepted. I had no intention of ever logging back into my account again, but today, I came back to make a genuine edit, and discovered that I had been blocked. Allowing username change to requested username. Please select an option from Wikipedia:Changing username and file a request as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. Graham87 03:52, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What is the genuine edit you wish to make? Will you decline to respond to dares from your friends? 331dot (talk) 20:00, 31 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Of course I'll decline dares from my friends. Actually, they were more classmates than friends. Anyway, the edit I was going to make was just to fix some grammar error, which was fixed by someone else a while later. I've discovered a few more, though. One of several edits I would like to make is to the Wikipedia pages of actors Tom Hiddleston and Zawe Ashton, who just had a baby, a fact which I happened to see on the side of some news article I was reading and came to their Wikipedia pages to confirm, discovering that it did not show. To confirm, I then searched it up and found several noted news websites reporting this and decided that I should probably add it to Wikipedia. I would also like to add a page for a Bollywood film, Zwigato, which does not yet have a page. I have a few others, but I don't think there's any point in making this post longer by listing them. IHaveTheGloriousPurposeOfRestoringTheBoysNTheHoodPage (talk) 22:08, 31 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Graham87: I may be wasting my time asking, because I know that I am often far more willing to consider unblocking in this kind of situation than most administrators. However, my thought on this is that the editor has been blocked for most of a month, and appears to me to be genuinely willing to start editing constructively, and it makes sense to unblock, provided that they will agree to a change of user name, and on the understanding that any more vandalism is likely to mean being blocked and staying blocked. Do you have any opinion to offer? JBW (talk) 22:35, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@JBW: Sure, let's give unblocking a go. Graham87 03:52, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Re your most recent edit: you need to actually go to the changing username page and follow the instructions there to have your username changed. Graham87 09:01, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I did that. I simply changed my mind about the username I wanted and thought I ought to add it here as well just in case. Thank you for the reminder though. IHaveTheGloriousPurposeOfRestoringTheBoysNTheHoodPage (talk) 19:38, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I can rename your account, saving you the trouble of following the instructions on the page Graham has linked to. I have not yet changed your username, because once it is changed, if you try to log in under your old username, you will get a message telling you that the username or password is wrong, which might make you think that you have lost access to your account. You can in fact simply log in with the new username, and the same password as before, but I like to warn editors before changing the name, to avoid confusion. When you have read this message, post a message here telling me that you are ready for the name change to go ahead. In that message include both the text {{ping|JBW}} and ~~~~. I will then be automatically notified of your message. Please do not edit anywhere other than this talk page until the username change has taken place. JBW (talk) 09:13, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@JBW: Hi, JBW! Thank you very much for telling me about this! Unfortunately, I received your message just this morning, after I had already submitted my request following Graham87's instructions. My username has not yet been changed, and I'm guessing it may take a while. If you can still rename my account, I'll be very grateful if you do. I am ready for the name change to go ahead. IHaveTheGloriousPurposeOfRestoringTheBoysNTheHoodPage (talk) 19:47, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the rename was done by someone else before I saw your message about it here. Anyway, I hope from now on you will be able to contribute to Wikipedia without problems. (Well, we all have problems from time to time, but without major problems, I hope.) JBW (talk) 20:55, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@JBW: Thank you very much! By the way, can I delete the block notice on this page now? If I'm officially unblocked, that is. Lizzie Silver (talk) 22:34, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please see Help:Archiving a talk page for information on archiving contents on your talk page. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 16:01, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you can delete the block notice, and all the other stuff relating to the block, if you llike. Following on from Nihonjoe's comment above, it is generally more helpful to move old talk page content into an archive, rather than just deleting it, because it makes it easier for anyone (including you) to find if there's any reason in the future for someone to want to check the history. However, that's up to you if you want to do it. JBW (talk) 21:46, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@JBW: @Nihonjoe: Thank you, and I will take your advice and archive the page.

Bir Singh moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Bir Singh, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 03:47, 5 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I did not know how to save it as a draft, so I had no choice but to publish it temporarily before making further changes. Lizzie Silver (talk) 03:49, 5 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
