Speedy deletion nomination of Madhwa kanva brahmins[edit]

Hello Madhwakanvabrahmins,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Madhwa kanva brahmins for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Nechlison (talk) 19:17, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, Madhwakanvabrahmins, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below) and continue editing.

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.

And in what way is that better or different from the same name without spaces? --jpgordon::==( o ) 15:19, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dear JP Gordon, The very purpose of creating this article 'Madhwa Kanva Brahmins' is to provide information about this community to it's members and also other sub-castes within brahmin community. Intent of creating this page is absolutely benevolent. Please advise which name as 'user name' is acceptable according to wikipedia policies and I will choose that. Appreciate if you can unblock my request and help me improve this article by giving references etc.. Thank you.

The article is not the issue here, as far as your block is concerned. Rather, as the box above says, Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below) and continue editing. A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive or disruptive. The username you currently have, as well as the one you asked to change it to, seem to me to be related to a real-world group -- the Madhwa Kanva Brahmins. Please select a name that is not related to such a group. --jpgordon::==( o ) 19:00, 27 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article Madhwa Kanva Brahmins has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unreferenced article that makes ethnic generalisations.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
