Hello, you declined an article I submitted called "Revenge of the sunfish" you said that the references needed to be fixed. I don't know how to fix them, could you please do it yourself and re-submit my article. I added some more references, one from the guardian paper. thanks :)

Disambiguation link notification for July 5

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Elan Media Partners, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Blockbuster and Chaos (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

I noticed that the page has been given an additional suffix "software" which does not describe the subject correctly. As Bubbly is more of a social network[1] rather than a software, appending (Software) to the title is inaccurate. A more appropriate term should be (Social Network).

Leeyisan (talk) 08:45, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

I suppose that is a bit up for interpetation (is bubbly the software used, in which case it is software, or are it the people, and is the software secondary, in whcih case it is a social network). The sources mainly talk about the software and the company, which is why I used software, but they are obviously fundamentally entwined. I don't really have a preference myself, so I've moved to Bubbly (social network). Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 09:14, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

Bricsys vs Bricscad

Dag Martijn,

Thanks for your review and feedback.

Please note that my purpose was to add a page for Bricsys as the company is referred to in several other places of Wikipedia but the link was dead-ending. Also note that I had been interacting with Chris Gualtieri who had given me advice on what was required to make the entry for Bricsys non commercial and fact based, not unlike the entries for all other CAD companies represented on Wikipedia. I hope you will agree this was now the case for the Bricsys submission.

However, I do like your suggestion to avoid two separate pages for Bricsys (the company) and BricsCAD (their main product) and rather merge them into one ... taking the opportunity to clean up the existing BricsCAD page and make it also more factual. Let me try to produce such a page later in the week, and I'll get back to you then for final review and approval.

Looking forward to work and finalize this together, mvg, Guy

No problem. If you have any questions, just ask. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 12:29, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
Have produced and submitted the merged BricsCAD / Bricsys page. More factual, with references, than what was up previously, but please feel free to let me know of further suggestions for improvement you might have, thx. Gvancollie (talk) 10:40, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

VE newsletter

Hey Martijn Hoekstra; hope you had a decent weekend :). We've got a pile of patches, some of which went out on Monday, some yesterday:

  • If you insert wikitext such as links or section headers, you get a notice in the top right corner (over the save button). It doesn't go away until click, though once dismissed you don't get another one that edit. (49820)
  • If your edit token expires, VE fetches a new one for you so you can save. (50424)
  • If the page is empty of content but does have something non-content (like a category or an HTML comment), VE no longer crashes on load - (50289)
  • sub tags are no longer removed ((49873)
  • If you type at the end of links, they now extend
  • Templates now only take a single click to insert
  • Clear annotations clears links (50461)
  • The link inspector stays open when you click to another item (50895)
  • Typing after multi-byte characters no longer creats pawn icons (51140)
  • Resizing thumbnails that have a default size set now works (50645)
  • References made by tag:ref now display properly (bugzilla:50978)
  • The VE is integrated with the spam blacklist (50826)
  • Feedbacl link goes to the right language (bugzilla:47730)

There are a lot more improvements coming, but that's it for Monday and Tuesday. Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 08:32, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

Why did you decline my submission? I ADDED CITATIONS! So I don't know why you put "Nothing changed since last submission." Unless the citations to the references were not reliable, then please explain what I did wrong. And by the way my IP address# changed. But please leave the reply on the "Comments" section of my actual talk page. Here is the link: User talk:75.62.135.134 Thanks. 75.62.128.133 (talk) 19:12, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

You're right, I should have paid closer attention. I saw the last edit by Matthew Vanitas who reverted the submission, and saw that it was still submitted. A reference has indeed be added. After looking at it again, it's still far from ready from being accepted though. The tone needs a lot of work, it addresses the reader, and I suspect much is original research (for example "These intersections have traffic signals. You'll notice that instead of a light bulb being held by a lamp post, the bulb is held by a telephone pole."). The sources you add discuss the road and avenue only in passing. Try to find sources that discuss the roads in depth. Also make sure your content is suitable for inclusion in an encyclopedia. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 21:14, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
Thanks a lot Martijn. I really appreciate it. But I still don't get you. What does the word "tone" mean in this case? And what does "depth" mean? Just answer these questions and I'll understand what you mean. Thanks. 75.62.130.190 (talk) 01:09, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
With tone mean it is very colloquial. In this case, it is even addressing the reader. That's something to avoid. With depth I mean it goes into detail that isn't suitable for an encyclopedia article. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 10:13, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
If you don't mind, could you help me find sources that will discuss the roads in depth? I would appreciate it. 75.62.130.190 (talk) 18:36, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
I'm going to disappoint you in that regard. I'm afraid such sources don't exisit - and if they don't the subject isn't a suitable subject for wikipedia. If they do exist, it's not really a subject I'm really interested in, and would like to do research on. If the streets are fairly well known, maybe a travel guide will cover them. If they are of historic interest, they may show up in history books. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 20:18, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
Okay then. Then could you help me improve the article? I don't know what to do! And besides, the message that's under the name of the person who declined it says "You are encouraged to make improvements by clicking the "Edit" tab at the top of the page. If you require extra help please ask a question." SO I am. Please help me! 75.62.130.190 (talk) 01:51, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
Well, no response so I assume you're going to leave it all to me, huh? All I'm asking you is some help! Not do it all for me. But if you don't want to help me, fine! I'll ask someone else. Besides since you're not even interested in this topic as it says in your previous response. Up to this point, no thank you! 75.62.133.100 (talk) 19:16, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
Either that, or I was working late at my day job, which takes preference over taking time to help out here on Wikipedia. I'm very much willing to help you out with questions you may have, technicalities in how to use MediaWiki, helping you navigate Wikipedia, helping you with issues you have with formatting. I'm not however in your service. I'm not interested in hunting for references for this street. You're quite welcome in asking me questions, or seeing if there are others are willing to help you write it. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 20:42, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
In this case, I don't appreciate you. Did I say "Help me look up references for this street?" Nope. I said "Can you help me with writing the article?" Not referencing, writing! But it really doesn't matter anymore. Not interested in my article? Well then I guess Wikipedia LIES! Why does it say in the templates "Ask a question on the reviewer's page if you need help"? If you don't want to help me it's fine with me. But that also means Wikipedia lies.

Ahem, I am talking to you! Don't ignore me. (Well unless you aren't really comfortable) But just respond to the question. (sigh) --75.62.131.69 (talk) 00:27, 19 July 2013 (UTC)

Would you re-read your last post here, you would realise you didn't actually ask me a question. You noted your disapproval of the amount of help I'm willing to offer to you, and wrote Wikipedia lies in bold capital letters. I took note of your disapproval, but didn't feel it required much more discussion. Let's put things differently. Like I said, you need independent sources that give in depth coverage. I also said I'm not willing to help you look for these. If you find them however, you can, if you want, let me know, and I'll have no problem with showing you how to make an article out of them. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 09:34, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
I apologize forwhat I said up there. I'm just in what you could say a "tight spot". Look I kind of understand you now. I need to look for references that give in depth coverage and you're not willing to help me too but if I do find some I'll tell you there and we'll see if an article can get made.
Anyway thanks for your help Martjin. Oh, and by the way, you should answer the question under the title "Could I get a 3O".75.62.131.69 (talk) 21:55, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
Yup, that's pretty much what I meant. And that 3O has long since been provided. 217.123.22.222 (talk) 07:25, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
Well that's good to know. Well I'll see if I can find them. Thanks a lot. Now I do appreciate you and Wikipedia is cool all right? 75.62.131.69 (talk) 18:57, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
Hmm. I was wondering. Is 217.123.22.222 you Martjin Hoekstra? JUST want to make sure. 75.62.128.176 (talk) 02:01, 26 July 2013 (UTC)

Farid Khan debacle

As you attempt to clean this up, please review the original contributor's talk page and note that he has done this before (hijacking the Farid Khan (politician) article to make one about this completely non-notable "journalist". Once the dust was settled on that mess, the journalist article ended up being deleted (here). Now Zeeshan claims that Khan is more notable, but I see no evidence of that. I hadn't seen this talkpage post before I posted on yours, but as I said there, I think I've got everything now. Let me know if I missed anything. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 17:01, 26 July 2013 (UTC)

Awarding you this much deserved barnstar for cleaning up the Farid Khan mess, which was by far the biggest ordeal I've encountered in my days on WP. Thank you! — MusikAnimal talk 16:52, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
Thank you. I sincerely hope this will be the greatest mess you encounter for a long time. Fortunately, messes like these which are mainly technical problems are a lot easier to solve than content dispute messes or editor behaviour messes. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 17:03, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
