Desmond Patrick Costello

[edit]

Thank you for your edits at Desmond Patrick Costello, unfortunately these have created several problems
Please read the advice in Help:Referencing for beginners and format the references correctly

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did on Ian Milner. This violates Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Your edit removed all the references, so has been reverted. You had been warned previously, and been given the link to the explanation about referencing. My piece on Milner contained no fewer than 24 footnotes showing sources. How can you describe it as 'unsourced'? Mertonabbbey

You have obviously not read Help:Referencing for beginners. Please do so. - David Biddulph (talk) 17:01, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I concede that I have not satisfied all of the many requirements as to layout etc, which is why I sought help when I posted the article. I am 82 years old with limited computer skills. I still do not see, however, how you can describe the article as 'unsourced'. To correct your original comment, I have not previously been warned about posting unsourced material. What the first editor said about my article on Costello was that my footnotes were incorrectly formatted. Mertonabbbey I do not appear to have tildes on my Mac keyboard.

A suggestion

[edit]

Hi Mertonabbbey, thank you for your additions to Desmond Patrick Costello—I like your writing style very much. If you're having difficulty with the Wikipedia-specific formatting, I suggest that you use Wikipedia's "user sandbox" feature to draft articles. You can see my sandbox, for example, at User:Genericusername57/sandbox. You can create one for yourself by clicking on User:Mertonabbbey/sandbox or using the "Sandbox" link at the very top of each page. Once you've written a draft, you can test out formatting in your sandbox or ask for help at the Teahouse (or just ask me, I really enjoy working with formatting). Cheers, gnu57 18:28, 23 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much.I would be very grateful if you would do the formatting for this piece. Mertonabbbey (talk) 17:17, 24 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
