September 2018[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to Help Billy Rogers (footballer). I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, MeurigRogers. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Billy Rogers (footballer), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. This would also apply to Plaid Cymru, Green Party, Common Ground however only if the article is not deleted. I have already tagged you as a connected contributor at Talk:Billy Rogers (footballer), but your contibutions there while some uncited do seem helpful. Great if you can provide some citations. DankJae 17:12, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Dank - that's an open and shut case for deleting the Plaid / Green / Common Ground page then.
The details around my Grandfather's death have been largely relayed to me orally by my father. I will try to dig out the death certificate or a link to the relevant entry in the death records. MeurigRogers (talk) 17:16, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@MeurigRogers, hi, are there any secondary sources? especially on the condition bit? from a newspaper (extract) perhaps? Those sources are WP:PRIMARY (so not preferred) but would verify the infobox at least, if there are minimal sources. To suggest edits, please add the {{request edit}} to Talk:Billy Rogers (footballer) to meet COI guidelines. Thanks DankJae 17:26, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The infobox information is culled from an encyclopedia of Welsh international footballers and a published History of Leyton Orient FC -so I can definitely cite those. The only record of his condition would be on his death certificate as it was kept between his Doctors and his wife. MeurigRogers (talk) 17:32, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If his condition is not really reported by secondary sources (nothing from parts of a newspaper? there are some archived newspapers online, but I am being hopeful) and it is personal (therefore original) information between only family members, it is ideally not allowed as it cannot be sufficiently cited and therefore verified. Any citations on details provided in the infobox are welcome, be free to request an edit at its talk page (or as there is a discussion here, you can link it here for me, as long as you don't edit the article directly).
