I did not delete the in-use reference citation for NSW Parliament Committee report. Another user did. See [1]

Probably still a good idea to duplicate the reference in the Westlink M7 article though, otherwise the missing ref could easily happen again. Marcnut1996 (talk) 14:26, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm referring to this edit. The link you've given is to a different article. -- Mikeblas (talk) 07:46, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I understand now. I know why I did it in 2021, it's because it was duplicating the citation in the translcuded Toll roads in Australia, which worked fine until the edit earlier this year on the same article which broke it. Marcnut1996 (talk) 01:42, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see. That's a pretty annoying and unfortunately common problem. I don't think there's a good solution, but I do think it's best that articles contain their own references as much as possible. Whoever invented templates wasn't considering how references work, I figure. Or, maybe whoever implemented references didn't think through transclusion. -- Mikeblas (talk) 02:57, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Academic journals published in Indonesia indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 06:00, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ketchum, Idaho

[edit]

Regarding your edit:

I did not add this reference. It was already there but, because it had already been invoked further up, I converted it to a short form. I can see that it is redundant, perhaps it would be better to use the cite web template than a bare URL? Gaius Cornelius (talk) 14:36, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, I'm referring to this edit, where you added undefined references to the external links section of the article. While you did declare these reference names above, invoking {{reflist}} produces the reference list and then clears all the names. As a result, your edit left two undefined reference errors and added the Category:Pages with broken reference names tracking category. Before your edit, there were no referencing errors in the article. Why do you think it important for external links to have references? Since Wikipedia is not its own reference, why would referencing *anything* to WikiData be useful? -- Mikeblas (talk) 16:32, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
