Hello Mmerocknroll. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to User:Mmerocknroll/Smart Living Lab, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Mmerocknroll. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Mmerocknroll|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Longhair\talk 09:51, 20 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

hi, I have written as a paid user (disclaimer made on the FR Talk page user) an article in french which has been reviewed by the Wikipedia community and has been carefully sourced about the Smart Living Lab. Now I have tried to write an English translation following the same process. But on the English site of Wikipedia it seems to bring me some problems... please explain how to proceed. I am tired of being blocked for just trying to follow the rules. Mmerocknroll (talk) 10:07, 20 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

en.wiki is a different project with different rules than fr.wiki. On en.wiki, we basically aren't interested in people writing about subject areas for which they have a conflict of interest. See WP:COI, WP:PAID, and WP:PROMO. Nor have you addressed your violations of WP:SOCK. Yamla (talk) 10:14, 20 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I understand that Smart Living Lab account has been blocked. This account was meant to be used for the EN Wiki and COI has been mentioned on the talk page. mmerocknroll account is meant to be used in the FR Wiki and has been working without problem so far. I won't use mmerocknroll in the EN channel anymore. The aim was to suggest an English translation of the Smart Living Lab FR article, nothing more. The Smart Living Lab is a research center related to EPFL. EPFL has a wikipage in French and in English, and the idea was only to add information from valuable sources, also in English. I understand than the English Wikipedia doesn't work exactly in the same way as the French Wikipedia. I understand also the COI rules and Mmerocknroll has a clear COI statement on the French userpage. Is the userpage only working on one language at a time? I can't edit the content of my userpage in English anymore, but I can write here that I understand the COI rules and that I am paid by EPFL to contribute to related research and science Wikipedia articles with valuable sources. Thank you for your understanding.~~~~

Hello! I was personally approached by the editor @Mmerocknroll. Being an unexperienced editor first an account with the name Smartlivinglab was created, that was blocked because no COI was given. So a new account was created coming from the same IP and block as well. This is all unfortunate, but won't happen again, as I have now instructed the editor how to state the COI on both the article concerned and on the user page. Is there a way to unblock? Thanks for your advices! @Longhair and @Yamla would you be so kind and review the blocking decision again? Much appreciated! Thanks! – Quaenuncabibis (talk) 14:29, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
