Welcome[edit]

Hi, Mountainrelic. This is NOT some automated message...it's from a real person. You can talk to me right now. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get started. Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  12:55, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ようこそ
  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

August 2009[edit]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by some search engines, including Google. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Ckatzchatspy 19:15, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your note; I appreciate that you are not connected with the site. Unfortunately, we typically do not add external links such as the ones you contributed because Wikipedia is not intended to be a directory service. It is often not a comment on the web site, but rather a reflection of the fact that if we allow one site, we would then be obligated to allow others (or else appear to be promoting one over the other). That is why articles generally include only a single link to the company's main site; we even avoid multiple links to an organization if those same links can be accessed from the main site. Please feel free to ask if you have more questions about this. Cheers. --Ckatzchatspy 17:39, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
