Welcome to WIkipedia[edit]

Thank you for creating the page Cahokia High School on Wikipedia. I want to let you know that there are many editors who do not like short "stubby" articles and it is very likely that unless you make some major improvements, your article will be quickly deleted. For any example of a school article that has been around a while, see New Trier High School. Here are four tips to create a school article that will be likely to have a permanent place in Wikipedia:

  1. To avoid being deleted, the article should contain some information about the school that sets it apart from other schools. Often authors cite state championship sports teams or notable alumni. Anything helps. Having no information usually leads to the statement that Wikipedia is not a directory nor a collection of random information.
  2. Many editors also expect all articles, and particularly articles about schools, to provide references to at least two independent reliable secondary sources. For example, for evidence of a state championship in a sport, a citation to the IHSA web site is considered much better than using the school's own web site.
  3. An article should look like an article. That means its title should be in bold text and there should be appropriate links to other Wikipedia pages (such as Cahokia, Illinois or to St. Clair County).
  4. If the article is deleted and you want to recreate an improved version, I suggest that you create in in your own user space (for example at User:MrsBrooks/Cahokia High School and then move it into the mainspace when you are comfortable that is in relatively good shape. That way, no one will be looking over your shoulder as you work to create the article.

Duplicate images uploaded[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:New Psalmist Logo (2).JPG. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Churchlogo1 (2).JPG. The copy called Image:Churchlogo1 (2).JPG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 20:15, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
