Request reason:

I would like to appeal my block based on IP address ("my IP address or network has been used to [...] disrupt Wikipedia.")I am a legitimate "user who [has] done nothing wrong" (on the page that comes up if I try to edit). I am trying to edit from a large institution, and from what I'm reading, that is probably the cause of the block. I get am blocked for this reason regardless of if I am logged in or not. As suggested on the page that comes up if I try to edit, I have changed the email for this account to one issued to me by my school (so you can so you can "verify that [I am] a legitimate user." Thank you for your assistance!NanoNight (talk) 18:58, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

To evaluate this request we'll need to know the IP address in question. If you don't want to publish it here, you can let us know privately via WP:UTRS. As an aside, we cannot see your email address, and even if we could, I don't see how it would help. Huon (talk) 19:08, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

The page explaining the block (the text provided if I try to edit) says, "140.180.240.0/20 has been blocked (disabled)." According to my computer, my IP address is 10.9.104.111. I've looked at the active blocks for my account (#NanoNight) which gives a giant list, but none seem to actually have anything to do with me (I haven't even edited recently). Responding to your aside: Email verification not apply to my situation, but it is under the appeal info for ISP blocks (it does not apply as it is for IP users without an account and I do have an account). In case this comes up again, the block info text for IP addresses includes the following: "IP users (without an account): If you do not have an account and wish to bypass this block, an account can be created to allow you to edit. In general, these blocks only prevent users who are not logged in from editing; once you are logged in, the block will no longer affect you in any way. Please request an account under your preferred username. It is important that you use an e-mail address issued to you by your ISP, school, or organisation, so we may verify that you are a legitimate user." Accept reason:

10.9.104.111 is some internal network address, not what the outside world (including Wikipedia) sees as your IP address. Pinging Berean Hunter who blocked the IP range; to me this looks like a false positive? Huon (talk) 23:03, 16 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Huon. You are right, this is a false positive.

IP block exempt

[edit]

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit the English Wikipedia through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions. ccept reason here Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked (through the use of CheckUser) periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).Huon

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption.
