Blackpool FC
Hi, just wondering what you thought about something being added to the BFC article? I was looking at other football club pages and some mention their Reserve teams. Yet there isn't anything on the BFC article about the Reserves. Even a line mentioning them playing at Fleetwood Towns Highbury Stadium maybe? ♦Tangerines BFC ♦·Talk 00:41, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Response to players category question
I did this as the leeds players category description has "made 1st team appearances". This inlcudes League, any official f.a. cup competition (including the league cup as is an official f.a. competition) and european games, if the player has only played pre-season frendlies or reserve fixtures then I don't feel they qualify. In the case of David Seaman he doesn't qualify as although he was on the Leeds books at one point he didn't infact ever play an official fixture for the club. Check, however, the lincoln players category description before you move the player, the category may include players whom havent played for the 1st team competitively. Chappy84 10:49, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- You might want to note however that Matt Dickins made 27 league appearances for Lincoln between 1991-1992 so he really qualifies for the category anyway, regardless of the 1993 appearance in the other section. Chappy84 11:09, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Replied here.
- The matter has been discussed before this, however no ultimate verdict was ever reached, plus the category should go by the description and thus only 1st team players should be in it. Chappy84 10:31, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
Poll options on Fred Dibnah's birthplace
I've started a poll on Talk:Fred Dibnah with four options for his birthplace area. As you've edited the main Fred Dibnah article, I'm letting you know about this Poll and the chance to vote one of the options. Cwb61 (talk) 00:04, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

- Fred Didnah was not just proud being a Boltonian, but he also proud being a Lancastrian. I felt that with his article it should be recognised as such with his birthplace.
- You drew my attention with the country was called at the time of Andriy Shevchenko’s birth. I said that I felt that football fans are more are interested with the game than a football player’s birth. I may be wrong with that issue.
- Personally I think the place that someone was born at the time should be mentioned, and if necessary mention in brackets the present county/country/area.
- The difference with Fred Dibnah and Andriy Shevchenko’s birthplaces, Bolton was in Lancashire but is now in Greater Manchester, where the Ukraine is still called the Ukraine and it’s a matter whether or not to mention USSR. Cwb61 (talk) 15:54, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi. I was just wondering what you might have against county names? The reasons that you have given for removing them from Alan Ball's infobox are all unjustified. Firstly, the county information is not "inherent from the town names" at all. In fact both places are small, provincial, UK towns, and identifying which county they are in is a useful addition to understanding Ball's history. Secondly, the infobox remains exactly the same width whether or not the details are added. Thirdly, every single thing in that infobox is also in the main text, does that mean we should remove all of it? Please could you give me a better reason for leaving the county names out? Otherwise I see no reason not to put them back in. Pyrope 19:22, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

- My apologies for the attributing the first spurious assertion to you, too many reversions in a short space of time. However, I stand by my points above. Just because it is in line with other boxes does not mean that there is a logical reason for doing so. Arguably, if a person was born in a large town that is generally recognisable the world over (and this is a worldwide encyclopedia after all) then I can see that county details might not be needed. Niether of the two in question are generally known in the UK, let alone elsewhere in the world. In this case adding these details would be only benefitial, and will not cause any detrimental effect other than that the box will not be in precisely the same format as others. And you can't make editorial decisions based on what is or isn't in an infobox template, they represent minimum information required, not maximum. Pyrope 19:39, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

- My point was generally that I can't see any reason why it shouldn't be different. Blindly following conventions without a logical reason for doing so is not a good reason at all. I have already tackled the point about clicking links. As for telling us something about Alan Ball as a person, I think the fact that he was born in Lancs. is quite significant, and if I had to choose I would actually prefer that the box read "Lancashire, England" over the present fomulation. - Ok, read that, thanks for the link. It doesn't support your actions though. The argument about flags is that it makes the text less readable and breaks the box formatting. Adding in the county details does neither. In the flags debate there is logic to following protocol. Pyrope 20:20, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

One club men - Jimmy Hampson
Hi. Have added a note to the talk page on One Club Men that Jimmy Hampson also played for Nelson (while they were a league team - have updated his article with details), so that makes him a two club man in my book. Not going to remove him from that page (as I don't know enough about what's supposed to be there), but might be worth removing him from that list? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by WikiGull (talk • contribs) 07:42, 26 April 2007 (UTC).
Tom Cruise on American Idol
Please point out where he appeared. As he is a controversial figure, this would have probably been all over the news as well. I was watching the show and I cannot remember a single instance of where he appeared in the episode. He was not in the "Stayin' Alive" video, and not in any of the head shots of celebrities asking for donations. Where in the world did you see the guy? Perhaps you saw someone who looks like him and mistakenly thought it was him. MissMJ 00:20, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

- Was this a promotion that aired during that particular episode (the Idol Gives Back Results Special) or was this during another episode? Because Antonio Banderas was not in the results special either, although he did appear during Tuesday's show. That list in the Idol Gives Back section is for celebrities who appeared during the results special, by either performing a humorous segment, being in the "Stayin' Alive" video, or in a head shot asking for donations. Tom Cruise was not in any of those. MissMJ 00:26, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

The article hasn't been semi-protected since about a fortnight ago [1], the template had been left there after the protection expired. ~2 vandals/day isn't enough to justify protecting it again, so I've removed the template. Oldelpaso 17:13, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Re: IP vandal
It's a shame that this IP went so long without a block. I am obliged to follow an escalating pattern of blocks for IP addresses, as are all other administrators. Since even static IPs have different owners from time to time, Wikipedia policy prescribes a cautious approach. If this IP continues to vandalize, it will be blocked for a week, then a month, and so on. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 10:32, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Player infobox tag
I know what you mean. It seems that all such categories list the articles in order of their actual title and the {{DEFAULTSORT: }} tag does not work. See for example Category:Articles needing an infobox. I can't see how to change this. Daemonic Kangaroo 15:44, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Rangers F.C. - Internationals section
I was thinking - this section will be rather large when completed. Do you think it would be more suited as part of another article (e.g. List of Rangers F.C. players or Rangers F.C. records) or in its own article? WATP (talk) • (contribs) 14:22, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello, Dudesleeper. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Arms-blackpool.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Dudesleeper. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine.
