Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. Additionally, If you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text

{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.

 Thank you. 331dot (talk) 07:48, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

NewtonHouse it is my home address and I am not being paid, I am new to this and I don't understand all the terminolgy and I want to keep the work I have updated and cited NewtonHouse (talk) 08:33, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

I'm sorry you were blocked. As far as I'm concerned there is no need to change your username. Please keep editing here — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:36, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A Google search indicates several organizations and/or establishments called "Newton House". You will need to use a different username; you may just create a new account, but if you want to preserve your edit history, please follow the instructions above to propose a new username. 331dot (talk) 08:39, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I understand you are not being paid; this is only a username issue, you can resume editing when it is resolved. 331dot (talk) 08:39, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@331dot: perhaps you are interpreting the username policy differently to me. The user has given a credible explanation for the username; it is not promotional. Are there any issues with their edits? Otherwise I plan to unblock shortly? (And next time, if I could suggest that you might talk to the user first before hitting the block button.) — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 20:04, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@MSGJ: I have no problem with you unblocking if that's what you want to do; I responded to a report at UAA and Googled this username and several things called "Newton House" came up, so I thought a soft block reasonable. 331dot (talk) 20:08, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The username policy states "Usernames that unambiguously represent the name of a company, group, institution or product" are not permitted. If I use the username "Microsoft Corp", even if I am not a representative of Microsoft, I would still be asked to change my name. 331dot (talk) 20:17, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I think you might agree that this particular username did not "unambiguously represent the name of a company". In any case, unless it is obviously offensive or disruptive, I think it is much better to speak to the user first. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:40, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@MSGJ: I won't argue over your decision, but I'm not sure I do agree, as other users might think this person works for or represents something called "Newton House" when they don't. 331dot (talk) 22:07, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
