Your submission at Articles for creation

[edit]

I noticed your submission in Articles for creation, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/John Seymour of Sawbridgeworth. Thanks! It will be reviewed by a volunteer soon.

Before it can be added to Wikipedia, your submission should have references. All articles on Wikipedia should have inline, numbered references after facts, showing the 'reliable source' (a newspaper, book, etc.) where the information can be checked, so that all information is verifiable.

Here's a video tutorial - hit play, then right-click for "full screen".

Here's an example of how to add references:

Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref>

He likes tea.<ref> Smith, John. "[http://foonews.com/Article42 Interview with Chzz]", Foo News, 1 April 2010. Retrieved 2011-05-22. </ref>

== References ==

{{reflist}}

That makes the references automatically display as small numbers[1] which will link to the details in the section titled == References == at the end. You can see that example in action here.

Please add references to your submission, which will be reviewed as soon as possible. See also, Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners. If you need any help, just put {{helpme}} at the end of this page, followed by a question.

This desperately needs to be edited for clarity. There's so much jammed into this page, not all of which is really pertinent to the article. Be aware that even though Seymour might have had notable descendents, that notability does not transfer backwards to Seymour (WP:NOTINHERITED). His notability should be from things that he himself did. There was so much going on here that I wasn't really able to see what Seymour himself was actually notable for. I highly, HIGHLY recommend that before you submit this again for review, you get the assistance of someone from Wikipedia:WikiProject History to help you write this article in an encyclopedic and informative manner. • Also, be aware that speculation and original research is not allowed in an article. There must be verifiable and reliable sources for these claims. It cannot be your own original research. If it is pulled from a source, you need to reference back to the source with a location of where to find it. For example, you reference a will but do not offer any places to find said will or quote the will itself. All the article has to go on is your word and that's not considered a reliable source per WP:RS. I don't mean to sound harsh, but this needs to be worked on. Hi. When you recently edited Ancestry of John Seymour (Semer) of Sawbridgeworth, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Lord High Admiral (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
