Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be engaged in an edit war with one or more editors according to your reverts at Miss Iraq. Although repeatedly reverting or undoing another editor's contributions may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, and often creates animosity between editors. Instead of edit warring, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose editing privileges. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a loss of editing privileges. Thank you. — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 14:12, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppetry

[edit]

I see that you have been accusing User:Nimrod1980 of being a sockpuppet in edit summaries such as this one. If you think the user is a sockpuppet of someone, you need to file a case at WP:SPI. If you are correct then they will be blocked, but please be advised that we don't usually block people as sockpuppets if no evidence has been presented. Also, you should be aware that calling people a sockpuppet can count as a personal attack. And you need to stop calling people "fraudsters", etc., as that kind of language could easily get you blocked for making personal attacks, or for violating the biographies of living people policy. It is much better to base arguments on Wikipedia policy and to try to come to a consensus through discussion on the talk page. Finally, you need to be aware of our policies on edit warring - I've left you a templated message about that above. Best — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 14:18, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nimrod1980 - Abusing Miss Iraq page

[edit]

The user "nimrod1980" who created this page has previously been banned on Wikipedia for sock puppet accounts "Nimrod1976" and "Mriraq". I have edited the page with accurate information and sources.

Please refer to the history of this person's account: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Mister_Iraq

He is now trying to sabotage the new organizers of Miss Iraq by posting false information again.

Also, I will file for sockpuppet as requested. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pageantscambuster (talkcontribs) 14:26, 23 August 2015‎ (UTC)[reply]

Hi again. Yes, I think that starting a sockpuppet investgation would be a good idea. Also, please remember that accusing other users of sockpuppetry elsewhere on Wikipedia counts as a personal attack and could get you blocked. And you need to be very careful about accusing other users of being fraudsters/scamsters, as that is also likely to be against Wikipedia policy unless you have very good evidence (and may be against the outing policy even if you do have good evidence). How to prevent future abuse?

[edit]

Mr. Stradivarius, I see you have blocked Nimrod1980.

How is it that we can prevent future abuse of the Miss Iraq page? Given the user's history, we have a feeling that the abuse will continue since its not the first time the person has done this.

Also, we know this person and he is not reasonable as alluded in my previous comments. Hence, using "talk page" to communicate will be futile. Kindly, advise us on this if he gets unblocked or creates another user to continue with the same activities.

I've semi-protected the article for a week, so the problems should stop for the meantime, at least. If any editors appear and start blanking or vandalising the article, you can report them at WP:AIV or request further page protection at WP:RFPP. You can also use WP:AIV for very obvious sockpuppetry reports, but anything not immediately obvious should go at WP:SPI. And if you start getting a load of different problems, you can post at WP:ANI to ask for general administrator assistance. It's better to ask for administrator assistance rather than keep reverting, as that could get you blocked. — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 15:07, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Talk pages

[edit]

Hi again. I see that you blanked the page Talk:Miss Iraq. However, you are not allowed to do this on talk pages that aren't your own, per the talk page guidelines. On talk pages other than your own, you can't generally edit other people's posts, and you shouldn't edit your own posts significantly, especially after someone else has replied to them. — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 16:42, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

This account has nothing to do with my other account where I contribute for different topics and activities. There are no overlapping activities. Multiple accounts are allowed on Wikipedia. How is this sockpuppeting?

This account was created specifically to address the issue at hand on the request of my client due to the page that was created on 22nd August. I did not want to use my personal wiki account due to the nature of the user whom we are complaining against i.e. harassment and threats.

I particularly noted this in my "Final Comments" point No.1 in the link below (on the Miss Iraq deletion discussion page): https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Miss_Iraq&diff=677520336&oldid=677520249

And I have just gone through "legitimate" and "illegitimate" uses of multiple accounts:

I don't see a single illegitimate reason why I would be banned.

And to prove that I had a LEGITIMATE concern of privacy and security to create a separate account, User:Mr._Stradivarius banned the user we were complaining against User:nimrod1980 for harassment and threat against my client and for revealing personal information. Check the logs yourself.

Decline reason:

Firstly, this account edited Miss Iraq; your previous account, User:Fanofmissworld, made Miss Iraq-related edits here. I don't think those are different topics. Secondly, alternate accounts may not edit project space, which this account did. Thirdly, the other account was blocked for sockpuppetry when you created this one; creating a new account to circumvent a block on a previous account is considered block evasion and is itself blockable. Fourthly, if you have a client and haven't disclosed them, you're violating the Terms of Use. Did I miss any further reasons why this account should be blocked? Request reason:

This is really mind boggling. First, you are talking about an edit on a completely different page. How are the two related??? As pageant contributors, I have edited information on many other pages from "Fanofmissworld". I don't understand why are you being so knit picky about a page that I NEVER addressed or touched using this account. Had I known about such miniscule things, I would have never done it. My client is not good at English. And I already DISCLOSED this fact that he is my client in the Miss Iraq deletion page (yes, Bbb23 edited that page so I am sending you a previous version where I wrote it, scroll to the bottom of the page in "FINAL COMMENTS" section) And I even DISCLOSED the fact that I created this account in point No.1 https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Miss_Iraq&diff=677520336&oldid=677520249 And to prove that I had a LEGITIMATE concern of privacy and security to create a separate account, User:Mr._Stradivarius banned the user we were complaining against User:nimrod1980 for harassment and threat against my client and for revealing personal information. Check the logs yourself. This block is ABSOLUTELY unfair. I have never experienced this before. Despite, the fact that I have written things clearly as shown in the link above. Also to further clarify, my account FANOFMISSWORLD was never banned so I wasn't circumventing a ban. One more thing I forgot to ask you, what is project space??? Pageantscambuster (talk) 23:04, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Leaving aside the pointless wikilawyering about exact details of sockpuppetry policy, the fact remains that you used two accounts to edit on the same topic, in a way which was clearly intended to avoid the impression that the same person was editing. However, completely apart from the issue of sockpuppetry, your editing has been disruptive in several ways, including edit warring. It is also clear that the only purpose of this account is to edit in ways which are contrary to Wikipedia's guidelines on conflict of interest. Consequently I see no reason to think that unblocking the account would benefit the project. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 10:19, 24 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You're right in that User:Fanofmissworld was blocked only today. However, I don't agree with your claim that "Miss Iraq" and "Miss Iraq" are separate topics. Regarding project space, "Editing project space: Undisclosed alternative accounts are not to be used in discussions internal to the project. That would include all pages with the "Wikipedia:" prefix, including deletion discussions. And no, "We created this account..." does not count as disclosure that it's an alternate account of User:Fanofmissworld. Huon (talk) 00:07, 24 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
