Editing your own bio

[edit]

Phillip, hello again. I would remind you of the Wikipedia policy of not editing your own biography. As I've previously stated, it's a conflict of interest. That being said, most of your edits were helpful and better reflected the sources. You'll notice, though, that I changed the number of times you appeared for Liberace from four back to three because that's what the source (your own webpage) states. I also appreciate that you signed up for an account as we told you. I highly recommend that instead of editing your own article that you ask another editor to make the changes for you so that we can avoid conflict of interest and original research, another policy that tends to be broken when the subject of the bio edits his own article. As I've done before, I'm happy to be that editor for you. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 06:35, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks ever Christine. I understand. I was not sure the policy was set in stone and thought it only a recommendation. I'll know better now :) I think you will find my webpage states that I played four times for the Liberace Foundation - check my bio page - those times being in 1989, 1990, 1992 and 1994. It might be best if you change it back to four times just so things tally :) Also Christine, can you tell me what Wiki's policy is on quoting from books that I have been mentioned in or any reviews ie : if appropriate do I just give you the quote accompanied with the appropriate book title/review, author, publisher, chapter, page as a reference etc? PS : I keep forgetting to login ! Oh dear! I'll get used to this eventually lol!— Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.168.115.48 (talk) 22:45, 20 November 2012 (UTC) Blessings! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.165.167.167 (talk) 20:40, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent requests

[edit]

Hi Phillip,

My apologies for taking so long to get to your requests made on my talk page; it's been a busy time. I now have a few moments to look into your comments and suggestions, and will respond to them now. I looked at the Dow article; it only mentions you briefly and doesn't really add anything new or different to what's already in your bio. Wikipedia is not a "data dump", or a repository for all articles ever written about a subject. And as I believe I already told you, the Liberace info needs to stand, since it's directly supported by a more reliable source (the other Dow article) than your webpage. I apologize again, this time for not being able to help you more. Best to you and to your family. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 18:25, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

[edit]

Hi again. It's been a while since you've thank me for improving the article on you. I was wondering if you could upload a image of yourself on Wikimedia Commons and use it in your wikipedia article. Thanks. EditorE (talk) 22:41, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Editor E : Thanks. What's Wikimedia Commons. I'm not that conversant with Wiki as you've probably realised. There is an image of me at the site for my publisher Wirripang which could be used. If you can advise me further on the uploading procedure and Wikimedia Commons I can look to doing it, unless you are able to yourself. Apologies for my not knowing.

Wikimedia Commons is a database of freely usable media files that can be used on Wikipedia. For example, if you uploaded an image under a Creative Commons license on Wikimedia Commons, that file can be used for any Wikimedia project, such as your Wikipedia article. Here's Wikimedia Commons. EditorE (talk) 16:29, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Editor E. I went to Wikimedia Commons and uploaded a photo (at least, I think I did!) but beyond that, I don't know what to do. You'll have to excuse my ignorance. I appreciate your patience. Blessings!

Uh-oh, Phillip! Looks like you forget put an license tag on the image page on Wikimedia Commons. Make sure you put a license tag on that page. How about use this.:

{{self|GFDL|Cc-by-sa-3.0-migrated|Cc-by-sa-2.5,2.0,1.0}} EditorE (talk) 21:00, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

And by the way, the Wikimedia commons image page is here. EditorE (talk) 21:00, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Editor E. I see that the page has the photo there now so I take it the licence tag is in tact - yes? . Again, apologies for my not knowing my way around here so well. Thank you so much and ever for all you have done to improve my page here at Wikipedia. I appreciate the time you and others have taken. Blessings!
