Talk:United States presidential election, 2008[edit]

When you're adding a section to a talk page you always put it at the bottom of the page. There was actually a note that told you this before you edited Talk:United States presidential election, 2008. I suggest you read up on the policies and guidelines of Wikipedia before making possibly controversial edits. Thanks. Timmeh! 19:29, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

I'm a maverick like McCain, my foreign policy is shoot first, think later. PonileExpress (talk) 15:51, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

Who do you include in the Infobox? Who gets the top-left corner? Questions that would be answered on November 4, 2008. GoodDay (talk) 15:54, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
I see how that might be a prblm but how does it cause bias?PonileExpress (talk) 15:58, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
From the third party PoV - they'd be peeved that it's just the Democrats & Republican tickets shown. As for who's on the left/right? With Obama on the left, McCain crowds would cry foul & if McCain was on the left, Obama crowds would cry foul (i.e- left-side meant for president-elect picture). GoodDay (talk) 16:06, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
I think your right, then. But is there any Precedent set for ongoing elections?PonileExpress (talk) 16:12, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
One could peek at the United States presidential election, 2004 article's history (pre-November 2, 2004). My guess is, that article was quite bare then. GoodDay (talk) 16:27, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
I peeked at the 2004 US prez election article's status at 'November 2, 2004'. There's no pictures there (however, pictures weren't added to the top of any of the articles until sometime between 2004 & 2008). GoodDay (talk) 16:32, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

Bill Clinton[edit]

Bill Clinton has been nominated for a good article reassessment. Articles are typically reviewed for one week. Please leave your comments and help us to return the article to good article quality. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, the good article status will be removed from the article. Reviewers' concerns are here. --Michael Johnson (talk) 00:31, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

i have no power here, it's fine to leave it that way "american mother",until somebody finds a source for his mothers "ethnic background",for example people use terms like born to a mexican mother or of mexican descent for a person when they don't know the race of the person's the same can go for an american--Wikiscribe (talk) 21:52, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia:WikiProject Outline of knowledge[edit]

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia.

I noticed you signed up for the Outline of knowledge WikiProject. Thank you for your interest.

I also noticed that yours is a new account.

Are you new to Wikipedia? Please let me know what wiki-experience you have. Knowing how familiar you are with Wikipedia and editor resources will let me know what kind of tasks to assign to you. Tasks range from easy to complex.

Note that this is for the most part an advanced Wiki-project (but beginners are welcome too), and I try to get editors up to speed quickly so they can handle mass-edit tasks as soon as possible. So if you want to dive into learning power-user wiki-skills, you've come to the right place. No experience is necessary - we'll provide you with everything you need to know to get things done. If you ever get stuck, feel free to ask me anything, and I'll be happy to assist.

Our first goal is to get you up to 500 edits. Then you can request registration for WP:AWB, one of the main tools we use in this WikiProject.

In the meantime, you should download and install Firefox and WP:LINKY, two more tools we use to boost wiki-performance. Since many of our tasks pertain to editing many outlines in batches, we rely heavily on Linky (which requires Firefox to run).

Also, once you've installed Firefox, you should install WP:WikEd to your Wikipedia account (it's a javascript). It's an improved wiki-editor that replaces Wikipedia's article editor, and it has search/replace built-in. It is extremely useful, especially for editing article name lists to be fed into AWB.

Your first outline-related task is to look over the outlines listed at Portal:Contents/Outline of knowledge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Outline of knowledge. While doing so, jot down any problems you notice, and ideas on how we might be able to improve the set of outlines, and then share your thoughts on my or the WikiProject's talk page.

By the way, most of our team mates aren't even listed as members of the WikiProject and they deal with me directly on my talk page, so you may bump into most of them there.  ;)

I look forward to your reply, and to your answer to my question and requests above.

I'm interested in participating in your project. As you said I am a bit new, but I think I understand most of the basic function and have edited several articles. I even created one a while back before I had this account. I'm probably going to have to be one of the people you teach things too. I already have firefox and I'll download the other things soon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by PonileExpress (talkcontribs) 21:28, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Excellent. I'm very glad. Be sure to survey the entire set of pages at Portal:Contents/Outline of knowledge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Outline of knowledge. I'm very interested in your observations. Criticisms and ideas are welcome and highly encouraged. I look forward to your feedback.

(That is, your first assignment is to tell me what is right with the set, what's wrong with these outlines, and how they can be improved. I can hardly wait to read what you come up with. Good luck, and have fun.) The Transhumanist    23:03, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

The only problem I see with the first link is that a lot of the bold text are not linked to separate article pages. The second link did not show me any errors. Obviously my breadth of knowledge is not very impressive.PonileExpress (talk) 22:07, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Barack Obama[edit]

Hello, please do not change the image in the infobox for Barack Obama. Thanks. Jason (talk) 23:05, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Why not?PonileExpress (talk) 23:27, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
Extensive discussion on what image should be used in the infobox has already occured. Do not change the image. Jason (talk) 23:38, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

2016 prez election article[edit]

No, you said delete on the wrong page. Do it here. Make sure it's formatted like the other ones, like this:

  • Delete - reason to delete. ~~~~

Also, make sure you add the above at the very bottom of the AFD page. Timmeh! 00:51, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
