Muhammad al-Yaqoubi
[edit]Hello, I wanted to let you know that I re-edited some of your recent good faith contributions to Muhammad al-Yaqoubi because it violated Wikipedia guidelines. I have not done this in a deliberate attempt to override your contributions, but to ensure that the article meets these guidelines as well as avoiding the article from potentially being subject to deletion.
For future contributions please ensure that the content is not promotional, does not contain original research, is written from a neutral point of view and is supported by verifiable reliable sources. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! Tanbircdq (talk) 21:10, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
- Hi, I did not say your edits were promotional, contained original research, not neutral and not supported by verifiable reliable sources, these were things I thought could help you for future edits as you appear to be a new editor that is all.
- However, please avoid WP:EDITWARRING as you did here, this is not constructive. If you would like to edit/add to the article then do so but do not revert/remove other editors edits. You may also want to explain your edits in the summary if you want them to stick.
- I will attempt to explain a few of my re-edits for you. The very first two sentences you have added is not neutral “Shaykh Muhammad Abul Huda al-Yaqoubi is one of the most influential Muslims today. He is a revered scholar of traditional Sunni Islam with students all around the world,” this is an opinion not fact, whether sourced or not. Also your use of Islamic honorifics, is against the neutral nature of Wikipedia. The large paragraph of what the subject has studied in the Education section appears to give undue weight on the specific books he has studied as well as being puffery. You do not need to mention the date a subject is born in the lead and repeat it again on another section. Finally bear in mind that the article is about Muhammad al-Yaqoubi not The Yaqoubi family therefore the tone of the article should reflect this. Tanbircdq (talk) 00:12, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
- Hi, just to let you know I've merged the “Humanitarian work” section with “Involvement in the Syrian Revolution 2011-present” section as the humanitarian work currently only relates to the Syrian revolution/uprising and therefore it is more appropriate to be within this section for now. Obviously if the Shaykh does more humanitarian work outside of Syria then it could have a section of its own.
- Can you try and add the date e.g month and year for when specific things have happened? It makes it much easier to follow when reading the article. Also the reference from a book you added for when Shaykh al-Yaqoubi demanded the resignation of President Bashar al-Assad, can you add the page number in the reference, for clarity?
