Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:27, 5 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I would like to edit the article to correct any mistakes. It seems the Wikipedia editor has misunderstood the significance of RISING festival to Melbourne and the way sponsored posts at Guardian Australia work. I'd like to add new sources to help make the festival's significance and need for inclusion on Wikipedia more obvious.RISINGFestival (talk) 03:18, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

To be unblocked, please follow the instructions above to make an unblock request that simultaneously proposes a new username. Your request should also indicate that you understand the policies described(and linked to) in the notice, and tell us what you will edit about instead of your festival, as you won't be unblocked to, in the short term, edit about it. If your only goal here is to edit about your festival, you won't be unblocked. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 08:25, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

This account was created by my predecessor at RISING Festival. I need to unblock the account in order to delete the submission on the festival that person created. The existence of that entry may be stopping legitimate users from adding an entry on the festival. Many apologies for my predecessor's error regarding the rules and purpose of Wikipedia. I have thoroughly read the rules and understand this is not a platform for promotional activities

Should I also change the username?

Decline reason:

Accounts may not be shared. Since more than one person has had access to this account, it is now compromised. You will need to create a new account(or more likely request one at WP:ACC) and request unblock from that account, explaining your situation. The same things apply, though, you won't be unblocked to edit about your festival in the short term. 331dot (talk) 10:33, 6 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone is welcome to edit any page on Wikipedia, including the draft. The draft about your festival is pending review, but it may still be edited. Please understand that Wikipedia has a broad definition of promotional activities- you don't have to be soliciting or selling something. Merely telling about something is considered promotion. Wikipedia is not for merely telling about something, but for summarizing independent reliable sources. Please also review conflict of interest and paid editing. You don't need to read every rule on Wikipedia, there are a lot. I haven't read every rule and I have the admin tools. 331dot (talk) 10:33, 6 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
