Referencing
[edit]When citing the same source multiple times in an article, please do not use "Ibid". This type of citation is fine for a printed work, where the author can be sure that the citations will remain the order he or she placed them, but in the fluid world of a Wikipedia article, sections may be rearranged, and the "Ibid" may no longer refer to the same source as was originally intended.
Instead, use the <ref name=xxx>
format. The first time you use such a reference, you provide a full citation, as so:
Here is a fact to be cited.<ref name=xxx>Text of citation goes here.</ref>
The next time you need to refer to the same source, simply use the syntax as:
Here is another fact from the same source.<ref name=xxx/>
Note that there is no closing </ref> in the second usage. This syntax will produce the necessary links from your article text to your citations, and will remain valid no matter how much rearranging of the article occurs after you have edited it. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:45, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
