Further previous posts, I've removed it as it was displaying as protection by an office action, which could confuse some users, and was listing it in inappropriate categories. Obviously you may recreate it as you wish, but please don't add protection templates to it, particularly not the office one (as that should only be used by Wikimedia Foundation staff). Thanks. My signature box?

The article is for a new John Lennon box set soon to be released. I am working on expanding it and gathering references. CityFeedback 23:15, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Călina River

Hello Redblue82, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Călina River, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: There is sufficient context to identify the subject of the article. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Dabomb87 (talk) 00:33, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

The issue of rivers has been discussed and a decision has been taken. In Wikipedia there are no criteria limiting the size, length or discharge of a river which can be included into Wikipedia. I therefore do not understand the reason for which you requested the deletion. Afil (talk) 00:45, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Eugène Cremmer

Hello Redblue82. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Eugène Cremmer, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: no rationale as to why a G6 deletion is required was provide. Thank you. —SpacemanSpiff 21:50, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Userpage

Hi, I've semi-protected your userpage indefinitely although I declined your full protection request earlier today at WP:RPP. Please tell me if you don't want it. Regards, Airplaneman 00:22, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

thank you for doing this, at least it's protected from people i don't like, who target me elsewhere.-- RedBlue82 talk 00:24, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
No problem :). If you need anything else, just ask! Airplaneman 00:26, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Re: Welcome

Hi Redblue, thanks for the welcome. I'd like to write an article on the 2010 season of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Can I do that here? Manch Merch (talk) 04:19, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Manch Merch, The 2010 Season Section of the page needs expansion, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Hampshire_Fisher_Cats#2010_season, so if you could please write up a draft in a user subpage, like here Special:Mypage/sandbox, and then later merge into the article. Please put the template, {{Possible article}} in there so people know you are drafting.-- RedBlue82 talk 10:00, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Your proposal to delete Unruh temperature

Quoting Wikipedia:BEFORE#Before_nominating_an_article_for_deletion: "When nominating due to sourcing or notability concerns, make a good-faith attempt to confirm that such sources don't exist." This is easily done: google scholar, for example, is suggested right on the deletion proposal page; alternatively, you could check the arXiv.

What are you trying to do here? You've wasted quite a bit of my, and several other people's, time. Your own as well. Please withdraw the deletion proposal; I, in turn, will try to find the time to expand the article and add some references, though I don't expect that will be of any interest to you. Reasons for nominating an article at AfD

Hi Redblue82, When you see an article that is lacking sources, the first step to take is to look for sources, instead of nominating it for deletion. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion says, "When nominating due to sourcing or notability concerns, make a good-faith attempt to confirm that such sources don't exist." Some articles that you've recently nominated for deletion, Maria Bertram, Unruh temperature, and Eugène Cremmer, have abundant reliable sources, which you would would have discovered with a simple Google Books or Scholar search. Thanks, First Light (talk) 03:59, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Using the {{Expand}} template

Please note that the {{Expand}} is unnecessary for articles that already have a Stub template on them. Those articles already say "This article on xyz is a stub. You can help Wikipedia by expanding it."

To put it another way, if you read the information at Template:Expand, you'll see that it states:

"{{Expand}} should not be used on articles concurrently with stub templates - a stub template is an explicit request for expansion. {{Expand}} should only be used on articles that are beyond stub length, in place of a stub template."

And really, all Wikipedia articles need expansion, so that tag is probably overkill in any case. Thanks, First Light (talk) 04:34, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

That's a very good read - great explanation of that tag. First Light (talk) 15:40, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

Even before WP:BEFORE

Hi Redblue82, I suggest before nominating any more articles at AfD, you read WP:BEFORE. It explains what you should do "before" nominating an article. Here are a few pointers from there—especially note the parts that I've italicized:

1. Read and understand the Wikipedia deletion policy (WP:DEL), which explains valid grounds for deletion. If the page can be improved, this should be solved through regular editing.
2. Read the article and review its history to properly understand its topic. Some articles may have been harmed by vandalism or poor editing. Stubs and imperfect articles are awaiting further development, and so the potential of the topic should be considered.
8. Familiarize yourself with the guidelines and policies on notability, reliable sources, and what Wikipedia is not. Related guidelines include WP:BIO, WP:COI, WP:CORP, WP:MUSIC, WP:WEB, and, for list articles, WP:CLN. For a list of policies and guidelines that can be useful in a deletion proposal, see Wikipedia:List of policies and guidelines to cite in deletion debates.
9. When nominating due to sourcing or notability concerns, make a good-faith attempt to confirm that such sources don't exist.

Now in your recent AfD nomination you said "..and the Google scholar search makes no sense...". Here's how to use Google Scholar and Google Books to find sources for the article you nominated. Please learn how to do this before you nominate any more articles at AfD.

  1. Go to http://scholar.google.com/ and enter "Soth Phetrasy", using the quotes.
  2. Review the three articles that show up, and you'll see that all three are reliable academic journals that discuss the person and his notability.
  3. Don't nominate that article for deletion.
  4. Because you probably don't have access to those journal articles, you wouldn't be able to read them to improve the article, but you can be pretty sure that the person is notable.
  5. Go to http://books.google.com/ and enter "Soth Phetrasy", using the quotes.
  6. Voila!, you'll see over forty books that discuss his role in the Pathet Lao and his involvement in negotiations with the United States as a diplomat, confirming that the subject is notable. Two of the books have 'preview' allowed by Google, and you may be able to read them and use them as references to improve the article.

If you have any questions, please let me know, and thank you for your efforts at improving articles on Wikipedia. First Light (talk) 18:58, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi Redblue82, Just checking to see if you had a chance to review the AfD policies, and if you have any questions about how they work, or how to look for reliable sources. Don't hesitate to let me know if you do. First Light (talk) 17:31, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

I have nominated Eugène Cremmer, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Eugène Cremmer. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. RedBlue82 talk 22:01, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Sorry for not noticing the tag that had been added over 1 year... I added a list of references according to google, and explicitely the one referred to in the text. This remains a stub, but "does not cite its sources" is no more true, and fortunately the vote was clearly to "keep". — MFH:Talk 13:59, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
