Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that you made a change to an article, 2020 New Zealand cannabis referendum, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Materialscientist (talk) 07:13, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add or significantly change content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did with this edit to 2020 New Zealand cannabis referendum. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Materialscientist (talk) 07:21, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Aaron Ironside requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hi Chris, I understnad why you have nominated a speedy deletion, but I am confused. I would have thought leading a successful political referendum campaign in New Zealand was a significant and credibel reason for a page, also I have been a Public Figure in New Zealand for 25 years as a radio host. I can appreciate that it might look like self-promotion - but it was more because I was referenced in other pages, so figured I might need a personal profile page for those who wnated to know more? It looks like self-promotion because it is. Don't lie to yourself about it. Chris Troutman (talk) 23:01, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Aaron Ironside

[edit]

Hi. You seem to be a single-purpose account to promote Aaron Ironside. If you have a conflict of interest you are legally obligated to disclose such. When writing articles, espeically about living people, we need significant coverage in independent reliable sources. Media that the subject published, or from where the subject works is not allowable for purposes of notability. Chris Troutman (talk) 14:46, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Chris, I signalled that this page was created by me. I have begun editing other pages as well, but as I'm new to this, Im still learning. I certainly intend to add to other pages not directly about me, but as I am refernced in other pages, wanted to ensure that those mentions were teh first I checked Redwood1969 (talk) 22:13, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is not a social network platform like Facebook or Twitter: you don't "need a personal profile page". In fact, neither you nor anyone else owns any page of this encyclopedia. If you want to help us write an encyclopedia as an uninvolved third-person that's fine, but you should not be editing about yourself or other people or events you know. Just because other pages might mention you does not imply that we would want to have a standalone article about you. Chris Troutman (talk) 22:59, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article, or a draft for a Wikipedia article, about yourself, at Aaron Ironside. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Thank you, I suppose the logic was if the leader of Political Party who wins an election is notable, then the leader of a winning referendum campaign (again ours was the NO camapaign - there were no others) is also notable. HAppy to abide by the decision Redwood1969 (talk) 05:15, 11 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
