Joan Robinson Hill

No worries about the realtor, it was worth asking just in case. I don't mind looking things up from the book if there's anything else you can think of that we've missed. I keep thinking of bits and pieces I've forgotten, usually when I'm doing something else. :) This is Paul (talk) 14:39, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

Sounds good, I'll look forward to reading that. Can you send me a link to it when it's published? I haven't had a chance to do as much as I wanted over the last few days because I had to replace about 30 Daily Mail refs for an upcoming TFA. I hadn't realised there were so many, and it took a couple of days to find everything from alternative sources, but all seems to be well now. This is Paul (talk) 22:57, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi, any chance you could upload some of the images from here? The ones I want really are the Orange sign, Gladstone Bridge, the Morrisons supermarket and the garage images, Halfords, KFC, and Focus images. The system can be seen on clicking an existing geograph image in the article.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:23, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, most of the ones I want are 2013 images which haven't been uploaded yet, the 2009 ones are already in the commons. They should all be found and put in Category:Barry Waterfront of course. It's one of those rather notable local articles I'm surprised we had nothing on!♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:05, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, [1] was the one I meant, we call them garages over here! Not to worry now, plenty of images!♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:29, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

Sorry to bother you again amigo, but can you update the Keswick montage and replace the bottom right image with File:Moot Hall, Keswick - geograph.org.uk - 1529777.jpg. Tim said the bottom right one isn't that well known and the Moot Hall is an icon of the town!♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:54, 4 September 2014 (UTC)

Good man! I'm sure @Tim riley: will be delighted at having The Moot Hall back in the picture!♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:17, 4 September 2014 (UTC)

Tim riley most certainly is, and I'm mightily grateful to you both, gentlemen. Tim riley talk 21:24, 4 September 2014 (UTC)

I was wondering, can you mould these two photos into one? Docks 12 is the left, docks 13 the right. It is a panorama image across two pages. I cropped it at the page join so fitting together should be fairly straightforward but might need some cropping around the edges to even up. The page join which you can see on the left should obscure a small section of the image, the crop of the right should fit near the right side of the page join of the left picture. It might need some work though to match up and look convincing as one though.

File:Barry Docks13.jpg

OK!♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:55, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

  • I'll give it a shot. Having fun with a new way I found (well, read on the internet) to get full resolution zoomable images from any website.  — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:16, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
  • This is what I could do. Sorry it's not spectacular. BTW, Shirvington seems to have been active into at least the 1920s, so PD-100 doesn't apply. These are from the 1920s. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:37, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
Rawr!

That's great Crisco, looks like the one in the book now. Thank!♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:45, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

  • Glad it works for you. (Tigers... wonder if they're Javan tigers) — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:57, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

Hey, can you remove the watermarks for File:Punjab Mail 1939 film.jpg and File:Amar Raj 1946.jpg?♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:33, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

Newspapers.com

Really interesting article, thanks for that. I have a couple of things in mind that I'm planning to expand using the site so must make a start. Looks like the Johnny Mercer bio is finally on its way. I had an email from Amazon today saying it had been dispatched from a seller in the US, so will probably take a few weeks to arrive. The estimated delivery date is September 23 to October 13. Pauline Frederick: "The Paliser Case" 1920

Poster. Beautiful! ThanksKoplimek (talk) 15:33, 17 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi, any chance you could make a set montage for the infobox using the best images from the es wiki article Provincia de Guadalajara?♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:56, 22 September 2014 (UTC)

Thank you!

Wish I could give more
Thank you, again, for all of your image help. Here's a beautiful banknote. Wish it was worth more, but at least the zeroes are pretty (and the microprint).  — Crisco 1492 (talk) 01:46, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

Seconded, your efforts to help editors with images have been exemplary!♦ Dr. Blofeld 07:37, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

Thanks to you both!! :) We hope (talk) 12:37, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

Old newspapers and copyright

Hi We hope, I was wondering if you would be able to find out if the following two images, for the September Morn article. I'll be pulling the prose together, as my free time permits (though if you're interested in joining in, feel free).

Thanks ahead of time. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 15:53, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

  • You're a lifesaver, you know that right? If you have a chance to send a couple articles my way (I'm stockpiling Google News archived papers on the talk page, but a bit of the information you told me wasn't in what I had). The furor over this sounds like a sight to behold, I must say: Man dressed in drag as 'Miss September Morn', for instance. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:44, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
  • Gracias, indeed. I'll be uploading the Blade image. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:58, 17 September 2014 (UTC)
    • Thanks muchly. I've worked in the majority of the sources you've found. The article actually looks presentable, but I'd want a bit more critical reception before considering GA. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:19, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
      • The 1937 image or the 1913 one in the Oregon Daily Journal? I think the former is him with his reproduction (check out the grey hairs), while the latter is actually two images collaged together (which, on consideration, should still be in the article). — Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:57, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
        • You know that thing I said about you being a lifesaver? Lather, rinse, repeat. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 01:15, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
          • Excellent! I already mention Shannon, but we can give some more detail on her show (and there's another censored reproduction of the painting... all the better). — Crisco 1492 (talk) 02:03, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
  • Being as I'm unable to access it, could you see if this has anything this article doesn't? (I think the "S." in the painter's name is a typo; after all, a fairly famous artist named Oliver Dennett Grover lived in Chicago at the time). — Crisco 1492 (talk) 08:49, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
    • Thanks again! Sorry to keep leaning on you. I'd say "the plot thickens", but that's a little cliche. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:13, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
      • Indeed. Perhaps there's an unspoken social convention that anything with angels can't be sexual? Which, of course, is bullshit. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:28, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
Would that be heterosexual or homosexual behaviour @Crisco 1492:? Not that it matters, they mean exactly the same thing, isn't that right @Cassianto:? :-) Speaking of angels, I was thinking of proposing a merger of Jesus into the God article, both the same! Site Sybilators, you may block me for this act of blasphemy!♦ Dr. Blofeld 07:40, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
  • That's... that's bound to be even more interesting than the Star Trek Into Darkness debate. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 07:47, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
        • It's everywhere. And nobody seems to have actually researched these parodies and homages. At least, no sources I've found. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:01, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
          • That couplet again! Thanks for the post card... wonder if it works better than the one we have in the article now. I could move the sheet music below, since the post card is horizontally oriented. As for Grover... I'm going to avoid linking him for now, no matter how obvious it is, because even a little addition of an accent d'aigu has been called OR by an editor on crusade. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 16:43, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
  • Would it be possible for you to put together two more clips? I finished my conference paper, so I can get back on this article.
Thanks. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 15:34, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
  • I do ask a bit much of you. Anything I can do to help you? (I'm reasonably good with getting zoomable images, like paintings...) — Crisco 1492 (talk) 15:51, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
  • Hmm.. well, there's this one, which just needs to be lightened a bit. That's all I can find. The original image on the server appears to only be that resolution. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 16:17, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
  • No need to go too far with these. Those two are already beautiful, and should be fine. Though I understand if we want to determine if the current lead image is free or not... that's a heck of a shot — Crisco 1492 (talk) 16:44, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

More hockey press photos

Hi there... was wondering if any of the following may be possible to use here: Bill Torrey ([2]) Jim Gregory ([3]) John Muckler ([4]) Al Arbour ([5] [6]). Connormah (talk) 21:02, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

Thanks so much. Could you do a favour and upload the ones that are ok to use when you get the time (you are way better than I am at the rationales)? Thanks again! Connormah (talk) 23:34, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
Awesome. Thanks as always. I'll maybe take another look for the other guys as well. Connormah (talk) 05:26, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Take Me Home, Bebe Daniels

you did my heart joy. That poster is right where it belongs. I didn't know if it was free use as the movie is from 1928 and Paramount might still claim it. However all prints seem to be lost of Take Me Home. I'm still wondering whether other lost films have free use posters post-1923 ie MGM's The Barrier(1926) or Warner's Dearie (1927). It was the poster from Dearie that started my love of movie posters over 30 years ago. Once more, great job. ThanksKoplimek (talk) 17:11, 28 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi Wehope, I got your message in response to film posters/free use. Thank you much.Koplimek (talk) 18:47, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

Re: Roses in the morning

Thanks, I added a sentence about it to the article. This is Paul (talk) 19:17, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

Hullo! Any chance you could upload some images? A google image should pic up some fire paintings and some depictions, the Birmingham Library is supposed to have the most pictures on it.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:13, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

Great, thanks!♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:52, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

Nice! Started Samuel William Fores, interested in uploading a gallery to add to his article?♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:18, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

No worries, it's not important anyway!♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:37, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

'Twas wondering. Can you upload some trailers captures/free images of Arsenic and Old Lace (film) or whatever?♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:25, 12 October 2014 (UTC)

Joan Robinson Hill peer review

Hi, I'm not sure if you've seen it (so apologies if you have), but I submitted Joan Robinson Hill for a peer review a few days ago, and have been getting some feedback. One of the suggestions is to split the article into two separate pieces, with Joan Robinson Hill covering her life and career, and something like Death of Joan Robinson Hill discussing the events surrounding and following her death. I've been given a suggestion for a structure for the biography, which could work, although I'm not sure in some parts what details would end up where, so I was wondering what you thought of the idea. This is Paul (talk) 17:22, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, I think there's gonna be a lot of work to do. :) I'm not sure if we have to wait for the peer review to close before making a start as I've never had to change something so dramatically before. But I can at least create a redirect to the Death and autopsy section of her article, and perhaps ask at the helpdesk whether it's ok to make a start. This is Paul (talk) 17:55, 27 October 2014 (UTC)
Got the go-ahead, and looks like Esprit15d has already made a start. :) This is Paul (talk) 18:47, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

Re: photo

Great find, I wonder if we could use it in the filmography. This is Paul (talk) 16:10, 13 November 2014 (UTC)

ok, thought I'd go for it. Have also added one of the Shower of Stars screenshots, and included a main image too. It's not connected with her film work, so I don't know if it's usable in that context. This is Paul (talk) 16:48, 13 November 2014 (UTC)
That's great, if we don't have one already this would be a good topic for an article. Shame the YouTube files got deleted though. Nice recipes. :) This is Paul (talk) 17:41, 13 November 2014 (UTC)
Sadly I don't have a VHS player any more, but perhaps it'll get released on DVD to coincide with the 100th anniversary of his birth. This is Paul (talk) 19:20, 13 November 2014 (UTC)

Joan Robinson Hill articles

Sorry I haven't worked on these for a few weeks, I got a bit sidetracked with the current Scottish Labour Party leadership election, and was also not sure how to take them forward after the split. Now the peer review's over though, I think I'll put them through WP:GOCE and see how it goes. Both now have GA potential, but probably need someone to take a close look at them. Still also need to finish reading Johnny Mercer's bio as that also got waylaid slightly. This is Paul (talk) 12:55, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

Must confess I did think we'd get more feedback, but GOCE are pretty good so hopefully they can get it into shape. This is Paul (talk) 14:38, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
