Ethnic and religious or non-religious categories in biographies of living people

[edit]

Hi - you probably don't know about WP:BLPCAT, which says "Categories regarding religious beliefs (or lack of such) or sexual orientation should not be used unless the subject has publicly self-identified with the belief or orientation in question, and the subject's beliefs or sexual orientation are relevant to their public life or notability, according to reliable published sources." Spencer doesn't meet the latter which is why I removed it. Doug Weller talk 16:50, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'd really appreciate it if you'd go back and check any such categories you've added to living people. Thanks. Doug Weller talk 16:51, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

OK, Will do, sorry about that. Most of them shouldn't need removed though as the majority of the pages I added came from categories related to atheism. ResidentofPlanetEarth (talk) 16:57, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. The only problem is if those categories were added by people who don't know our policy on this or just ignore it. Doug Weller talk 06:46, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

No, the majority seem to be people associated with atheism. ResidentofPlanetEarth (talk) 07:24, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Pre–17th-century atheists has been nominated for splitting

[edit]

Category:Pre–17th-century atheists has been nominated for splitting. A discussion is taking place to decide whether this proposal complies with the categorization guidelines. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments at the category's entry on the categories for discussion page. Thank you.
