Wikipedia in English, in Korean

[edit]

Wikipedia appreciates your willingness to contribute, but Wonmyung Elementary School does not appear to meet the notability guidelines, and is therefore likely to be deleted or merged into Seocho District. Versions of Wikipedia in other languages may set different inclusion criteria.

I hope this doesn't put you off editing Wikipedia. If you're interested in writing about (notable) schools, check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools.

If you're willing to do more translation, articles in this category could be expanded with content translated from the corresponding articles in Korean. Chung Dong-ha has been translated, but not well enough, it needs help from a willing editor.

If you want to create new English articles from existing Korean ones, consider whether one of these satisfies the notability critiera: 9.28 Incident [ko], Chajusŏng [ko], Day of the Shining Star, Heo Yeop [ko], Hoheon Friends Club [ko], In Praise of Death [ko], Jeju Bank [ko], Kang Kyung Dae [ko], Kim Ujin [ko], Korean National Association, Kwan hyun Park [ko], Lee Chul Kyu [ko], Mongyu dowondo [ko], Park Gi Soon [ko], Changgyeong [ko], Namyoung [ko], Yi Tal [ko], or Yun Sang Won [ko]. More tools for finding articles to consider translating and more general information about translation can be found at Wikipedia:Translation. --Worldbruce (talk) 02:44, 6 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rhaaos-- Let me say welcome, also. I find my way to you from my noticing the "Articles For Deletion" (AFD) process Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wonmyung Elementary School which probably will result in the deletion of that article. In your contributions, by the way, I see you also inquired at User talk:Masum Ibn Musa. From that discussion I gather that you created the article by translating it from a Korean language Wikipedia article. While it would seem reasonable that a translation would be welcome, there is a lot of focus here in the English Wikipedia about school articles, and the consensus is that any high school is deemed notable but elementary schools are not. The summarized consensus, with some more details, is at wp:NSCHOOL. You are welcome to comment and "vote" at the AFD but it is not worth fighting for this article, because the policy/consensus is so clear. So what else should you do then?
Well, I suggest you translate high school articles instead, or address other notable topics. By the way i happen to like the game baduk and wish there was more coverage of it in the English Wikipedia, but that is a very narrow topic area. How about improving coverage of historic places in Korea? Hope this is helpful. --doncram 18:22, 6 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
More specificly, I expect that any place listed as one of the Historic Sites of South Korea, or any item that is one the National Treasures of South Korea or any topic listed in Important Intangible Cultural Properties of Korea will be a notable topic. There are articles for just a few of those; others welcome. For example, at #5 on the numbered list of national treasures, I see there is no separate article for Ssangsajaseokdeung (Twin-lion stone lantern), although there is mention of it (and a photo) at Beopjusa temple article. And no article for #45 on Historic Sites of South Korea, Gwangmun fortress. If you have on-line or off-line access to detailed information about Ssangsajaseokdeung in "reliable sources", including perhaps any Korean Wikipedia coverage of it, you could start an article on that, and it would be really very welcome. Obviously you can pick and choose which you are interested in.... I will "watchlist" here but please feel free to contact me at my Talk page. Cheers, --doncram 18:31, 6 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Namsung electronics requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
