2016 Wikimedia Foundation Executive Director Search Community Survey

The Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation has appointed a committee to lead the search for the foundation’s next Executive Director. One of our first tasks is to write the job description of the executive director position, and we are asking for input from the Wikimedia community. Please take a few minutes and complete this survey to help us better understand community and staff expectations for the Wikimedia Foundation Executive Director.

Thank you, The Wikimedia Foundation Executive Director Search Steering Committee via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:49, 1 June 2016 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Richard Nagy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
  • disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Raudur listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Raudur. Since you had some involvement with the Raudur redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. -- Tavix (talk) 19:37, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

Can anything be done about it? It's in a pretty appalling state. I don't feel able to improve it because it's not my field, although I find myself being very critical of it. Tony (talk) 12:49, 13 June 2016 (UTC)

I tidied up the refs a bit, but also don't have subject knowledge for any wider improvements. Rjwilmsi 14:12, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
Thanks. en.WP really doesn't do a good job of cognitive psychology. I don't know why. I do have odd credentials (parachuted in for a PhD, then out again), so I don't want to get heavily involved. Tony (talk) 14:57, 15 June 2016 (UTC)

AWB

Is there any chance AWB will be available on Mac OS? Thank you for all the excellent work you do! Atsme📞📧 14:01, 15 June 2016 (UTC)

You would need to use Wine. Under Linux with Wine AWB works pretty well. I don't use Macs, am a Linux user, so I won't be making any direct effort towards native Mac support. That said, in the longer term with Microsoft offering an open-source .NET and the Mono project improving all the time, there is hope of native use under Mono on all major platforms. Under Linux I can get most of AWB working under Mono at the moment, but remaining Mono issues means it would not be suitable for general use. Rjwilmsi 14:04, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
I use wine all the time, but it leads to drunk texting. X-) Thanks for the info! Atsme📞📧 00:42, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
