Hi ConduitPharmacy! You created a thread called Question about proper citation at Wikipedia:Teahouse, but it has been archived because there was no discussion for a few days. You can still find the archived discussion here. If you have any additional questions that weren't answered then, please create a new thread.

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "ConduitPharmacy", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because looks like company name. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 15:23, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text

{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.

 Thank you. Orange Mike | Talk 18:17, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This username is obviously not any sort of advertisement, as "pharmacy" is the common name for the entire discipline of pharmacotherapy. ConduitPharmacy (talk) 22:15, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Unblocked, not sure why you were blocked in the first place to be honest. Closedmouth (talk) 12:31, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Drmies and Orangemike: "Looks like a company name" and "Is a company name" are two very different things. This is a pretty terrible way to treat a seemingly good-faith new editor. --Closedmouth (talk) 12:33, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Boy, OK. First, a search for "Conduit Pharmacy" brings literally zero relevant results. Second, the word "pharmacy" doesn't automatically indicate a business to begin with, as the user themselves pointed out, unfortunately after they were blocked. Third, the user was making good edits that in no way needed to be prevented from happening. Fourth, the user refers to themselves in the first-person singular on their userpage. Fifth, the block was followed three hours after the warning, on Christmas Day no less. Sixth...just kidding, that's it. How he then made it through the rigmarole of changing username and getting unblocked without giving up in understandable exasperation has to be some kind of miracle. The only scenario in which I can imagine this block was necessary is in the fulfilment of some bureaucratic process which has apparently determined that "pharmacy in username = group account ∴ block on sight" with disregard for any evidence to the contrary, in which case we might as well just have a bot block every username with the word pharmacy in it. --Closedmouth (talk) 09:36, 4 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I would greatly appreciate it if you leave it as is, I was around in their heyday and believe me they were highly abused and much sought after medication. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Doriden Doriden (talk) 14:16, 13 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 03:01, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
