October 2023[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm SimLibrarian. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to List of tech companies in the New York metropolitan area have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. SimLibrarian (talk) 00:24, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How was that contribution can be tagged as promotional, the article is about companies in New York. I just edited the already existed list of fintech companies in New York with brief profile of companies. I did not represent or have association with any of the companies in the list. Its impossible to write article about list of companies without the name of the companies and must not be treated as advertising. Existing article also shows the name of companies how that is not promotional. Saadthereader (talk) 04:55, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Your update included text like: "Stripe has redefined online payments, empowering businesses to accept payments seamlessly and securely. From e-commerce businesses to startups, Stripe is a favorite choice for those seeking a reliable payment processing platform." Phrases like "empowering" and "favorite choice" are blatant advertising. Please review WP:PROMOTION and WP:NPOV. SimLibrarian (talk) 17:16, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
so we list top tech companies in the newyork and don't describe what they do and why they are on top in thier sector? 182.178.40.185 (talk) 19:45, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The article is a list of tech companies in New York, not top tech companies in New York.. Most list articles don't include details; readers can click on the entries in the list for more information. The list is companies in the city, not a ranking, so being top in a sector isn't within the scope of the article. SimLibrarian (talk) 22:01, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
