@HiLo48 Thank you very much. I appreciate the additional resources and learning opportunities. There are a lot of moving parts and the Introduction and How to edit a page were both very helpful! Saekala (talk) 17:15, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

November 2023[edit]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to violate Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy by adding commentary and your personal analysis into articles, as you did at Ave Maria, Florida, you may be blocked from editing. Binksternet (talk) 15:45, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Binksternet
What commentary or personal additions are you referring to? I did not add any personal analysis. I removed content that was improperly sourced based on Wikipedia:Verifiability#Reliable sources. The content that was on the page was not supported by any of the sources.
https://cmcd.org/science/treatments/control-materials/ - A company's website that does not meet Wikipedia Sourcing Standards and has no mention of anything related to Ave Maria, FL.
https://archive.epa.gov/pesticides/reregistration/web/pdf/naled_red.pdf - General EPA Pesticide PDF for Florida as as state not specific to Ave Maria, FL. No mention of Ave Maria, FL.
https://www.aveherald.com/news/ave-maria-news/1091-amscd-briefed-on-bond-refinancing-mosquito-control.html Has a note that there was spraying for mosquitoes, but all towns spray for mosquitoes and is that worthy of being added to Wikipedia? Sources fall short of the notability guidelines (primary) as they are from the towns paper. Wikipedia:Notability
I do not appreciate your negative hostility threatening to block me for no apparent reason.

The warning was delivered because you removed negative mosquito pest material from the article, supported by a combination of primary source and WP:SECONDARY cites. That stuff was added in 2015 and 2016 by an IP editor from the area: Special:Contributions/98.238.87.7.[1] It looks to me as if CMCD is a semi-governmental health district in the area, granted the ability to collect taxes and serve public safety. It's not just a "company" website. I looked at the CMCD source and it shows a map of Ave Maria with heavy spraying for mosquitoes in 2015, so the IP editor is not so far off base. Apparently, the pest trouble is an ongoing problem, according to Fox News in August 2019 and NBC News in January 2022. Another update was published in June 2023 by News-Press, quoting a CMCD agent saying "We have this ongoing problem out in Ave Maria and Immokalee and that’s with a mosquito called mansonia." Naples Daily News warned about possible West Nile virus from mosquitoes in August 2021.
Your version[2] removed all mention of mosquitoes. That's why I gave you a warning about WP:NPOV. If you were just concerned about the sourcing, you could have recast the facts using newspaper articles, retaining the fact that Ave Maria is plagued with mosquitoes. The CMCD site does not cover the content it is intended to support. These is no reference on the site or the map that indicates, "The region was sprayed more than 30 times via airplane with pesticides by the Collier Mosquito Control District in 2015 with organophosphates and pyrethroids, making it the most sprayed area in Southwest Florida." The map shows that multiple areas had "completed" spraying, so this content does not seem accurate or like it should be a supporting source. I have no problem changing the wording based on the new source you provided. Saekala (talk) 19:43, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
