January 2016[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but we cannot accept original research. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. --Redrose64 (talk) 20:00, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles as you apparently did to Entwistle railway station. Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. --Redrose64 (talk) 16:34, 26 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Referencing[edit]

Please see WP:Citing sources (or if you find that too complex, Help:Referencing for beginners). What we need are titles, authors, year of publication - something that will precisely identify the source; also the page number or something else which will precisely identify the place within the source (for example, maps (other than atlases) don't have page numbers but usually have sheet numbers and grid squares). Things like publisher and town of publication are nice to have, but not essential.

We do not need to know which library you used; given an adequate reference, others should be able to locate the same material in another library, such as those at Manchester or Blackburn - even London or Oxford. Putting "at Bolton Central Library" is about as useful as saying that you rode there on the 541 bus from Canon Slade School. --Redrose64 (talk) 12:23, 30 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

February 2016[edit]

Information icon This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is "Is this an attack page?". Thank you. --Redrose64 (talk) 20:54, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. clpo13(talk) 20:55, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
