Bobby Cannavale

[edit]

I understand you're new to Wikipedia, and so you might not understand that the policy regarding biographies of living persons is very strict. Personal-life claims about living individuals must be impeccably footnoted and this is especially true in the case of minor children. WP:BLPPRIVACY and WP:NPF also apply here. Saying that you personally heard something on TV is not reliable sourcing. In this particular case, you'd have to cite an online video of the show in which you claim the middle name was given, and timestamp where on that video Cannavale purportedly says this.

I know it seems like a lot of work, but this is an encyclopedia, and claimed facts about living people, especially children, have to be impeccably sourced. Thank you for understanding. --Tenebrae (talk) 22:00, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have started a discussion at Talk:Bobby Cannavale. Per WP:BRD, you are expected to discuss your issues on the article talk page after being reverted. --Tenebrae (talk) 22:05, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Now looks like someone else has joined in & removed the name completely. I however just thought people would like to know his son's middle name which I heard come from his lips & I know why he gave him that middle name. But now the son's whole name has been removed. 3RR

[edit]

This is the required warning that you are about to break WP:3RR, the bright-line rule regarding edit-warring. If you continue to revert, in violation of WP:BLP, you will be reported to an admin, who can block or ban you from editing Wikipedia. And since your edit is a BLP violation involving a child, the report will be taken very seriously. --Tenebrae (talk) 22:02, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Heard it from his own mouth. So it's not at all false. Stop trying to use scare tactics. SimplyCA (talk) 22:36, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like

[edit]

It would appear to me that you just want a challenge from what I read & I am more than happy to keep up this challenge with you. Also,Jake Cannavale is a friend of mine on snapchat so do I need to get him to confirm it? Or do you wish to watch where Bobby was on Live with Kelly & Michael today to see for yourself. SimplyCA (talk) 22:46, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You're not going to be keeping up the challenge because I'm reporting you for WP:3RR and WP:BLP violations. I expect you will be blocked from Wikipedia for a certain amount of time. I explained what you needed to do to reliably cite this information, and you have chosen to ignore it and to make an irrelevant WP:NOR claim.--Tenebrae (talk) 22:57, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Well if I do I do. Wikipedia is not my life like it appears to be yours. I know the information I am providing is correct. SimplyCA (talk) 22:59, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You don't seem to understand that an encyclopedia can't just "take your word for it." You need to have proof. Yet you can't find a video to confirm that you didn't mishear, or that the person really said it, or that you're not pranking, as happens more often than you'd think. But, clearly, you're not here to help build this altruistic free encyclopedia, and you're unable to follow the sensible rules that help ensure that this encyclopedia is impeccably accurate. Why you're here is a mystery. --Tenebrae (talk) 23:36, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Why you think your are the Wikipedia boss is a mystery to me SimplyCA (talk) 23:53, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

First, I'm following the rules. You don't seem to want to do that. Second, your insulting behavior is a violation of the policy that Wikipedians be civil. As to your points, I don't use my real name, so having my name appear on the page is of no concern to me. Finally, anyone can claim to be anyone or know anyone or that their intentions are good. No one here has any way of knowing that. You really don't understand that an encyclopedia can't just "take your word for it"? You really don't see how we can't just accept anything anybody says? Really? --Tenebrae (talk) 23:55, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what your message to me — "You started this whole thing" — is supposed to mean. Responsible editors are supposed to let others know when they're violating WP:BLP, which is one of the core policies of Wikipedia. People can't just put it anything they want and claim they heard it somewhere. And then rather than follow the rules, you prefer to edit-war. And you didn't answer my question immediately above. --Tenebrae (talk) 00:07, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Fine. Keep throwing insults. You're clearly incapable of understanding how proper reference citations work, or why reliable-source citing is important. I'm disengaging. You're going to be blocked and that'll be the end of it. --Tenebrae (talk) 00:15, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
So after insulting me, edit-warring with me and having Nitestilts harass me, you want my help. Fine. I will help. But first, I think a civilized person would know what I deserve in return. --Tenebrae (talk) 18:33, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That link you inserted goes to a dead YouTube page. --Tenebrae (talk) 18:37, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I went to the site, I saw the video, I'll add the citation. But I think it shows very little class not to apologize for your edit-warring and, more significantly, for your name-calling. We're not fifth graders. In my experience, mature adults don't name-call like children. --Tenebrae (talk) 20:02, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Well I don't appreciate basically being called a liar & my character being called into character. I tried to tell you that what I had put was in fact truth & that I respected him as an actor & would not tarnish his page. So thank you for adding the citation that you wanted as to proof of what I as saying was actual fact. & so you can call me what you will. That is fine. You got what you wanted which was proof of what I was saying. SimplyCA (talk) 20:15, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Get this straight: No one was calling you a liar. This is an encyclopedia. Do you want to be able to trust an encyclopedia, because maybe not everybody who comes here is as honest as you or me? Well, the only way to do that is to require proof of what people come here and say. Who are you? You could anybody. Don't you get that — that there is no way to know who people are who come here? Everybody has to provide proof — that doesn't mean Wikipedia is accusing you and everybody else of being a liar. For God's sake, you really don't understand that an encyclopedia has to vet everything? Don't take it personally — no one is directing anything at you personally. But the rules are here for a reason and anybody contributing to this encyclopedia is expected to follow them. Me, you, everybody. And if you're sincere that I "can call me what you will", then fine: Anybody who can't understand that about an encyclopedia is stupid. --Tenebrae (talk) 20:26, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You said "call me what you will". It doesn't surprise me someone like you can dish it out but can't take. Now stay off my talk page. --Tenebrae (talk) 22:05, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

Hello, SimplyCA, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of your recent edits to the page Bobby Cannavale has not conformed to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and has been or will be removed. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or in other media. Always remember to provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Wikipedia also has a related policy against including original research in articles. Additionally, all new biographies of living people must contain at least one reliable source.

There are thousands upon thousands of articles to edit here, don't feel like you can only help out by working on one article, especially when faced with opposition. Find another article that interests you, see what you can do there. If you have any questions, feel free to come to my talk page and ask. Again, welcome.  -- WV 22:12, 12 February 2016 (
