Help requests (miscoded)

[edit]

helpme After starting my first draft article over a month ago and finally finishing it after considerable research. I'm now stuck. Please can someone explain how the draft article can be moved to the Wikipedia main space and how long this might take. I've read and re-read many of the instructions on the "Help" pages but this has simply made the process seem even more confusing. All searches for Christopher Morris (News Presenter) are negative. help me

Please can you tell me how I can publish the draft article on my user page - Christopher Morris (News Presenter) ? After 8 days since completion of the article it appears to be stuck on the following -- Wikipedia:Christopher Morris (News Presenter) -- and the search box to simply -- Christopher Morris (News Presenter) -- takes it to a list of names that includes several identical names but not this article. Can someone please clarify what needs to be done to locate this article correctly and live on the main Wikipedia pages? Thank you

Help me

Please can you advise what happens - or what I may still need to do - having at last completed the draft article and moved it to : Christopher Morris (News Presenter)? When, or approximately how long it takes to go "live"? Thank you

[Help me]] {{helpme}} Thank you Gryllida for your message. Some of the problems have been resolved. However, I am still unable to create an info box for the draft article page and need to upload the Summary information from Wikimedia Commons to accompany the photograph that has been uploaded. Also, can you assist in how I can then move the article to a new page - Christopher Morris (Journalist) - as I've tried this and it won't allow me to do so. Christopher Morris (Journalist)

[edit]

After 30 frustrating hours I've managed to transfer my image on to the draft article but cannot transfer the Summary information to accompany the photo. Do I need to create an infobox for this - and if so, how do you do that as I have been unable to do this. Finally, can you shed any light on how to then publish the article under the name Christopher Morris (Journalist) or do I have to create a new Username as I asked - but have so far received no response - in my last question below. As I have now been working on creating the article for over 3 weeks and still getting nowhere I despair of ever achieving the objective. Christopher MorrisSirromhc (talk) 21:51, 13 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please can you help publication of a draft article on Christopher Morris (Journalist)? The draft was finished several days ago and I followed the instructions (below) to click on Christopher Morris (Journalist) without success. -xeno talk had previously advised he could not give me User: Christopher Morris because of licensing concerns but he could do my Christopher H. Morris request. I will accept this if it's a solution to getting the draft article published. Your assistance will be much appreciated as my recent efforts to get to grips with the Wikipedia editing have been tortuous. Thank-you

Photo help

[edit]

I recently downloaded a jpg photo to be included on the new page created for Christopher Morris (born 28 March, 1938), journalist, broadcaster and author. Can you tell me when the photo will be added to the page and when the page itself will appear on the database? Christopher Morris ----

See help:images. the place to publish your article seems to be Chrisopher Morris (journalist). Check out wp:YFAxenotalk 15:17, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I could not give you User:Christopher Morris because of licensing concerns. I could do your Christopher H. Morris request. But keep in mind that for an article it needs to be in article space, not user space, as I suggested above. –xenotalk 16:40, 28 August 2013 (UTC)M[reply]

Thanks for your advice although I'm totally confused about what to do next. I would prefer to lose/delete the account/username "Sirromhc" altogether and create a new account/username "Christopher H. Morris" (Journalist). This presumably removes the confusion if published of "Sirromhc/Christopher Morris" (Journalist) - if that's the format it would appear on Wikipedia? Under "Christopher H. Morris (Journalist) could I then transfer the article currently on the "Sirromhc" user page. This article still currently needs several References to be inserted - along with the jpg photo recently downloaded (see earlier message above). I'm currently trying to fathom out Wikipedia's :Help: Referencing for beginners that is pretty complicated. Your further advice will be much appreciated. Christopher Morris ----

The issue is that you're trying to publish what you want to be an article in userspace (starts with "User:"). Once your draft article is ready to publish you just click here: Christopher Morris (journalist) and then post the text (do ensure the article fulfills the criteria listed at Wikipedia:Notability (people). Feel free to visit Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions and post a question for more help. –xenotalk 15:38, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Attempt to publish

[edit]

I have finally completed the draft article ready to publish and have tried to do this by clicking on Christopher Morris (journalist) as indicated by -xenotalk but without success saying "This page does not exist" Can you please advise how this is done as I've tried to follow the Help section again without success and the text I have spent considerable hours preparing seems to have vanished on the User/Sirromhc page? Also I have been unable to check the query about the book reference for The Day They LostThe H Bomb. There is no ISBN number as the book as published back in 1966 in America and has only a Library of Congress Catalog Number that I supplied in the References section - but it keeps coming back to say check the ISBN value?? Finally, I would now like help in getting the Morris colour photo onto the page that I downloaded about 3 weeks ago but have no idea where it is stored. Thank you. I think you were suggested to rename User:Sirromhc to Christopher Morris (journalist): use the rename option at the page top for that. Having entire 'Career' section in one paragraph is unusual. I am looking into the isbn issue. Gryllida 04:37, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the «isbn=whatever_here» field entirely and it stopped complaining. Gryllida 22:51, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Reference markup

[edit]

Hey Sirromhc. Thanks for your additional improvements to the Morris article. I've been noticing that when you add references, there's a bit of stray markup that appears like pipes ( | ) that are outside of <ref> tags. Be aware that you can use this guide for putting in references using the ref toolbar. I find it's a lot easier to put in references this way, and it prevents additional markup from being accidentally added. Thanks again for your hard work, I, JethroBT drop me a line 17:59, 27 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[1] You added some stray markup here...can you describe how are you adding in references? Are you copy-and-pasting from something? I, JethroBT drop me a line 16:49, 28 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
