Non-free rationale for File:Santa Fe - Along Your Way cover, 1945.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Santa Fe - Along Your Way cover, 1945.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. SchuminWeb (Talk) 16:46, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Santa Fe - Along Your Way cover, 1945.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Santa Fe - Along Your Way cover, 1945.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. SchuminWeb (Talk) 16:47, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

User:SchuminWeb's campaign against RR non-free images

SchuminWeb has gone on a tear against old railroad heralds and drumheads, and my attempt to get some explanation from him was rudely rebuffed. I normally don't do fair use images, so I really don't know what do to about these except concede that they will all be deleted (except for a few which he deems to be non-copyrightable— it's a sure thing those are mostly still trademarked so they are nonetheless non-free).

If you have some idea what to do about these, be my (and various other people's) guess. Most of these were uploaded by User:Lordkinbote, who hasn't been on since 2007. Mangoe (talk) 23:38, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of image file needed for Vulcan Iron Works

Hallo, I see you contributed to the to-do list on Talk:Vulcan Iron Works way back in 2005 and 2006. Since then, User:Lordkinbote added a (rare) image of a 1944 ad showing both steam and diesel Wilkes-Barre locomotives - but he's now left WP. I've added stuff on UK Vulcan Iron Works, but I see today that User:SchuminWeb has submitted the image for deletion - he believes it's purely decorative. As an expert on railway, could you join the discussion? I know nothing about rail, but believe the image is directly necessary for the article, and that it would be a real pity to lose it.

Wikipedia:Files_for_deletion/2011_October_10#File:Vulcan_Iron_Works_print_advertisement_from_Railway_Age_Magazine.2C_February_5.2C_1944.jpg thanks Chiswick Chap (talk) 09:25, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

oh, I see the item above is on the same theme. I do rather agree with the sentiments expressed. I don't know what is motivating SchuminWeb but would be very glad if reason could prevail here. Thank you. Chiswick Chap (talk) 09:28, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Pioneer Zephyr Dawn to Dusk Club.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Pioneer Zephyr Dawn to Dusk Club.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. SchuminWeb (Talk) 10:12, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Western Pacific Railroad logo, color.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Western Pacific Railroad logo, color.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
