License tagging for Image:20islamic1.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:20islamic1.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 01:04, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

California Proposition 8 (2008)

[edit]

Please do not add content without citing reliable sources, as you did to California Proposition 8 (2008). Before making potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Mike Doughney (talk) 03:56, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

[edit]

Although some may see it as picky, many considered it polite, and some wikipedians say it is essential, to include edit summaries when editing Wikipedia articles. This is true whether adding content, correcting a typo, or suggesting a merger. As the Help page says: "An edit summary should strive to answer the question, "Why did you make this edit?". Providing an edit summary, even if the edit is minor, makes Wikipedia work better by quickly explaining to other users what your change was about." See Help:Edit summary for suggestions about how to construct an edit summary. --Bejnar (talk) 06:23, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Caption of image on Afghanistan article.

[edit]

Dear Sohaiblatif

I have changed the caption of an image you inserted into the Afghanistan article. Specifically, I changed "The Afghan National Army will have 136,000 soldiers by the end of the decade" to "The Afghan National Army is predicted to have 136,000 soldiers by the end of the decade." I did this because we cannot say for certainty what will happen in the future. I hope you understand. Thanks for reading. Franklinville (talk) 23:46, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to the page Afghanistan–Germany relations has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Speedy deletion of Todd Gallinger

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Todd Gallinger requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. April 2009

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Sorry about the reverting. Abce2 (talk) 20:31, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
