Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page American Premier League has been reverted.
Your edit here to American Premier League was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5l8ceEwjfKEj-DqEmTiOfw) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. music or video) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy, as well as other parts of our external links guideline. If the information you linked to is indeed in violation of copyright, then such information should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file, or consider linking to the original.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 00:02, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Zippybonzo. I noticed that you recently removed content from American Premiere League without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Solidtech1. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page American Premiere League, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 01:50, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You have continued to edit the article after this message was left here. Please respond and explain your relationship to APL. MB 04:05, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi [User:MB], I am not affiliated with APL in any way shape, or form. I am an avid enthusiast in the sport of Cricket and I follow all major domestic tournaments and leagues within the NY and NJ region. I did follow the APL 2021 season during which I gathered information and on a long weekend, instead of being bored, I just took the opportunity to edit APL's Wikipedia page. As you can see, I am a new user and did not have any prior experience with Wiki edits. Therefore, I made a mistake in removing the previous content based on my knowledge. It was pointed out to me by one of the editors, that APL is a league that has been out there since 2009 and upon further digging into it, I did find a few articles that relate to the information provided by the editor. It was a lack of due diligence on my part. However, I immediately made the changes that she had pointed out as I had no intention of giving any misinformation or any favorable opinion. I also learned how to be wiser in my choice of words as Wikipedia is a reader's forum rather than a marketing platform. Therefore, I went ahead and corrected the lingo I used in the tournament-related information section. Even though this has been a bit of an uncomfortable experience, I have learned a lot from it, which will make me a better contributor. I am not sure why the news articles that I had published were removed as all of them were from valid sources (I also provided references for them) which did not violate any policy. Please let me know what should I do to sort out this situation. I will comply with Wikipedia's policies and any expert suggestions like I did with the editor through live chat. Thank you. --Solidtech1 (talk) 04:38, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Solidtech1, you say you have no affiliation with the subject yet claim a photo of the CEO as 'own work'. nearlyevil665 06:36, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi nearlyevil. Any image I uploaded, I downloaded it from social media. The reason I had to write "own work" was that it was giving an error. I did not hesitate to use it, because I have seen Jay Mir's photos so I know it's him. Again, I am new to this platform and have never edited anything. So, I was under the assumption that I had to click the checkbox to say that I am downloading it. Thank you for guiding me, as I am learning a lot on the fly, but please do not judge me. I am a very passionate person who wants to contribute to the Wiki community as a neutral person. I will be thoroughly reviewing lots and lots of Wikipedia's policies to avoid further discrepancies in the future. I hope you can forgive a person for making an honest mistake. Thank you. --Solidtech1 (talk) 06:41, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm having a difficult time assuming good faith in between your claiming the CEO photo as own work (which I cannot find through Google reverse image search, could you kindly point where this was downloaded from?) and the wide array of peacock terms and the promotional tone of your initial edits.
If I'm right, please read and make the necessary disclosures as per Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure if you're getting paid for your edits - remember, that it's possible to contribute to the Wikipedia as a paid editor, with certain conditions, all explained at WP:PE. nearlyevil665 06:58, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I will provide the source once I’m back on my pc in the morning. I’m not a paid editor and I’m writing just for fun on a boring long weekend. I’m sure you can tell paid editors are not as rookie as I’m. I tried writing something in a normal tone I usually use but after interacting with you guys, I learned what and what not to do on Wikipedia. Again, it’s my first time ever writing anything online like this…. Learning as I’m going through the process. Thank you and have a great night. Solidtech1 (talk) 07:19, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Since the long weekend is over, I'm back to my old life, which doesn't include Wikipedia. It is sad how you guys are being judgemental and flagging the article with all the nonsense. I don't really care. I just thought I could update all the research I had and was enjoying the coding in the process with the feel of being resourceful for a globally recognized volunteer platform. For the record, I did not take money from anyone, so it's offensive to me how you guys have flagged the article with "may have been created or edited in return for undisclosed payments." I'm a director in one of the top firms and APL or any other source doesn't have the money to buy me. So, stop this nonsense or do whatever you want. The only thing I am going to do is fix one or two errors, and I have emailed info@americanpremiereleague.us that I found from their website and gave them the VRT wikimedia.org email to approve the image file authorization. If they reply - good for them. If they don't, be my guest to take the image down. I really don't care. This has been a completely miserable experience dealing with judgemental people who keep taking down valid information (with citations) that I gathered and placed nicely on a table in the article. What a shame.--Solidtech1 (talk) 04:56, 18 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for your experience. We try to assume good faith but when many red flags stack up we need to be vigil, for the purpose of building a better encyclopedia. Tags are very common. P.S. Does that mean you won't be verifying how you obtained the image? nearlyevil665 06:31, 18 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I tried verifying everything but You guys never believed me and kept on pressing on my buttons. This image is all over there social media accounts. I got it from one of the accounts, what else do you want me to verify?

I was super duper excited and got so involved in how the article gets updated as I have never done this type of work ever before and then learned how to be neutral when writing the article but then I start getting judged. Please remove the money accusation coz it’s seriously offensive to me tbh. I didn’t take no money from no body. Do I look like a paid writer???? I know I screwed up in many areas but that was just a learning transition I wanted to update Minor and Major league tournaments as well but then this experience stopped me from contributing more. Solidtech1 (talk) 07:17, 18 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

May I know why you guys took the article Table down? Solidtech1 (talk) 07:20, 18 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The table was taken down because Wikipedia is not a place for dumping a large of press mentions for the subject in a table format. Don't take that or any of the other reverts personally - it is common for newcomers to misinterpret the site's formatting and content guidelines. Don't feel discouraged and feel free to continue editing, but familiarize yourself with the rules. nearlyevil665 08:07, 18 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That’s a fair statement. Sure I’ll Follow your lead, please remove the assumption of that money, I swear no one is paying me for nothing. Also I removed the lingo that gives any marketing wibe as well. Is there anything else I can remove that can address Wikipedia’s concerns? And acknowledged the table part but I think I have seen it with other articles too which is why I uploaded it but if it’s against the policy, I’m okay with it being down. I’m more than happy to comply with the policy. Solidtech1 (talk) 10:49, 18 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In between the blatantly promotional lingo and embellishment prose of the CEO, as well as the unsettled question of the latter's image, I'm personally not comfortable with removing the tag. Whatever it's worth, I feel like the article could use an additional clean-up, preferably from another set of eyes, and a tag would still have to remain in place whether or not I personally feel any COI had been involved. I invite other editors to look at this from a fresher perspective. nearlyevil665 15:28, 18 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Go for it. I have already sent the league an email that's listed on their website, now it's up to them to authorize Wikipedia to use those images. I got them from Google. Hi Soldtech1, pls do not remove short description, category, see also, external links and sourced content for no reasons. Cassiopeia talk 06:01, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi [User:Cassiopeia], I have spoken to [User:MB] about this and I have reverted the page back to its original version. I am now only making additions to the page and not deleting anything. I appreciate all the support.--Solidtech1 (talk) 06:16, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
