A.F.C. Totton

[edit]

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thanks for your edits to A.F.C. Totton, but I'm afraid I have had to revert them. You changed the club's record appearance maker to Michael Gosney, but you left the fact referenced to the Non-League Club Directory, which states that James Sherlington holds the record. Could you please provide a source for Gosney (and the 427). Many thanks, Number 57 16:29, 10 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Adi. Thanks for the message, but unfortunately you seem to have overlooked what I was saying above in terms of how you are editing the article. When you are making this edit, you are leaving the fact that Gosney is the record appearance maker sourced to the Non-League Club Directory 2017, when the book states the record appearance maker is Sherlington. In order to change it to Gosney (and 427), we need some a source that states this – the club website would be sufficient. I'm afraid it's not possible to take someone's word for something, as a key aspect of Wikipedia is WP:Verifiability. I hope you understand. Also, you may want to be aware of our WP:Conflict of interest guidelines if you are from the club and want to edit its article. Cheers, Number 57 00:34, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for providing a link to this page, but all it says is that he is the record holder. It does not say how many appearance, nor that he is the record goalscorer nor the number of goals. Please do not readd this until you have a source. Thanks. Number 57 01:08, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately I see you have re-added the goals figure to the article despite the request above to not do so until you have a source. I'm afraid that if you do this again I will block your account from editing. You must provide a source for the figures before re-adding this. Thanks, Number 57 10:21, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:NLT, your account will be blocked unless you withdraw the legal threat you made on my talk page (I have reported this here).

Furthermore, I am not "abusing your powers as an admin" because I have not used any administrative powers. Anyone could have made the edits I did. Secondly, I have not "been informed that the club has taken steps to ensure this page is and remains fully updated"; what you said suggested it was a one-off update. Third, any editor has a right to remove newly-added information; you might want to read WP:BRD as this is a guide to editing etiquette. I've been editing articles of non-league clubs for several years and I can tell you from experience that the enthusiasm soon wears off and we end up with a squad list that is several years out of date. Also, could you please confirm that you have read WP:COI and advise how you believe that you as a club official continuing to edit this article in compatible with Wikipedia guidelines?
