Nate Shemin
[edit]Hi, Stephen! Would you mind re-visiting the afd for Nate Shemin? You closed with "no consensus", which I can understand considering the rather weak comments, but Shemin's article could possibly be deleted on WP:CSD#A1. The only text on the page is a six sentence summary of his life on the show, which seems to have been very brief. He's not even listed in the Oz template. Finally, all the info in the article seems to be in the articles that link to Nate. Thanks, -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 16:04, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- Stephen, I haven't heard back from you and wondered if you'd had a chance to review the AfD for Nate Shemin? Please let me know. Thanks! -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 22:36, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
- Many thanks for your review =D -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 15:39, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
Hi, please see User talk:Jamierush. You had blocked this user for persistent violations and said you were willing to remove the block if he/she would read the image use policies. The user asked for an unblock, saying, "I have read over the policies on uploading images." I have left a brief message further explaining the problem and offering to unblock if the user will agree to get any future uploads vetted by Wikipedia:Media copyright questions first. I wanted to run this by you since you made the block to make sure that you agree with the unblock. --B (talk) 21:52, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello. I just wanted to toss my tuppence worth in on the edit war between this editor and the anonymous user over at Prague Spring. I do think that Dominik92 could have handled the matter a little better, but I also believe that his motivations were a great deal better than the anon's were, who clearly could not accept that he was wrong. The anon then escalated the problem by reverting Dominik92's edits in other articles. To be honest, I do not believe a block is justified for Dominik, given that he felt he was legitimately reverting vandalism. As I say, this is just my opinion. Cheers! ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 04:57, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
- To add what I know - there is a person (or possibly persons) who has been adding bits of misinformation to various Czech related article for several days. The person then started stalking and harassing Dominik, who had previously attempted to engage the person in discussion. Unfortunately, the person changes his IP address, so blocks are of limited effectiveness. Dominik should not have done so many reverts as it was not obvious vandalism - he recognizes the error of his approach and has pledged not to handle it this way again. Given the circumstances and Dominik's pledge, I ask you to consider lifting the block.--Kubigula (talk) 05:37, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
- Except that it was obvious vandalism. There's nothing in good faith about an edit that includes "This was of course banned by communist regime in Czechoslovakia." Looking over 71.99.117.144 (talk · contribs)'s contributions, I see nothing whatsoever that would convince me anything there is in good faith. --B (talk) 05:58, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
Stephen - you appear to be offline, so, after reviewing the situation again and the various comments by others, I unblocked Dominik. As noted above, there were mitigating circumstances here, but the deciding factor, to my mind, was Dominik's pledge to avoid repeating the conduct that precipitated the block. As such, there did not seem to be any further preventative value in leaving the block in place. Please let me know if you feel I have acted wrongly in this regard.--Kubigula (talk) 06:33, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note on my talk page - you are a gentleman.--Kubigula (talk) 04:07, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
AfD nomination of Top Gear races
[edit]An editor has nominated Top Gear races, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Top Gear races and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 21:44, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
9 January 2007 front page - Indian tour
[edit]You removed my contribution and that of another person after saying the news re: the Indian tour of Australia had been tweaked. Tweaked in what way? It still says the tour is temporarily suspended. Here is the article (one of many) that states the tour will continue. Please update the main page to reflect this, thanks. Peter1968 (talk) 05:34, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- That's right - "was" temporarily suspended. The main page says "is" temporarily suspended as of 8.11 UTC. It's wrong. It should all be past tense now. Cheers. Peter1968 (talk) 08:12, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Mounds View Track and Field
[edit]A couple of weeks ago I PRODed Mounds View Track and Field. It just dawned on me that the high school article (Mounds View High School) doesn't mention the team and could use the information. Could you restore the article? Sorry for the bother. Eóin (talk) 03:39, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
- I merged it into the school article. --Stephen 05:15, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
RfA Thanks
[edit]Hi Stephen (great name, by the way - at least one of my favourite people is named Stephen) - thanks for your participation in my request for adminship. It passed 52/0/0, and I'm now in possession of a shiny new mop. To elaborate slightly on my comment that watching noticeboards is rewarding, I have learned a good portion of what I know from doing so. Besides that, I consider assisting other editors to be right up with article editing on the list of important Wiki-activities, and most of the opportunities I've had to help other editors have come from watching noticeboards. Anyway, if I can ever help you with anything, please don't hesitate to contact me. Sarcasticidealist (talk) 08:29, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
In the news
[edit]Hi there! Please improve the ITN blurb on the detentions. Currently the blurb just essentially states that "two people were detained somewhere". Such things happen constantly (probably thousands of times every day) and the blurb doesn't really indicate why it is a notable event. Also, Wikipedia's coverage of it seems to be limited to one paragraph in the article MY Steve Irwin. I'm not really convinced that the U.S. politician thing is "ITN-worthy" either but I must say that the blurb for it makes a far clearer assertion of notability than this one. Cheers, --KFP (talk | contribs) 00:21, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Jack's back...
[edit]groan. User:Disco dog23. Sorry. Same articles, same image problems. lol - i kinda fell sorry for him, but he is pretty lousy. --Merbabu (talk) 11:13, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Thank you
[edit]Dear Stephen, Thank you for your handling of the situation in the past with the Singh article and the abuses that were going on.
I am still working on it and am discussing the article with a "new" member, but something just dawned on me because its too coincidental. Harrybabbar was the account that was the trouble maker which yourself and other admins dealt with. How can we find out if there are "Sock Puppets" being used by the same individual to get us off guard. After the abuse Harry hurled at me, I just want to be careful.
Sincerely, Gorkhali (talk) 06:15, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Hi Stephen, would you consider looking at the KurtKotzur's talk page to determine whether his block should be reduced? Thanks! Addhoc (talk) 23:28, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Racist troll
[edit]We must have both edited to include both refusals at the same time. Looks good now, though. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 03:33, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, I didn't mean to wipe out your decline, it's just the way it went. I thought I'd do one last thing before getting some zzzzz's for the night, and that was it. Thanks for your congrats, it was a tough RfA what with one thing and another, but at least it's all over now. See you around. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 03:48, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
