Born and raised on Long Island, New York. Attended Rider College. First editorial position with Hot Rod Magazine. Research and Development Coordinator for Renewable Energy at Mother Earth News from 1979 to 1990. when Mother Earth News was sold and moved to New York State, Richard and several others founded Back Home Magazine. Back Home was produced in the format of the original Mother Earth News and competed in the same market, focusing on sustainable living. Richard Served as the Publisher of Back Home from 1990 to 2014. Author of books and magazine articles on sustainable living and alternative fuels, including Alcohol Fuel, New Society Publishers, 2009.
