October 2018[edit]

Hello and welcome to wikipedia. Thanks for your recent contribution in Murshidabad district page. I want to inform you that your edit has been reverted. You provided a reference but that is written in non-English language. If you have any reliable source please add those. Hamim000000 (talk) 13:53, 17 October 2018 (UTC) + Blog posts are not trusted source. Hamim000000 (talk) 13:55, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thanks for giving an explanation. But I want to inform you that the current content of the language section of Murshidabad district page does not contain even a ordinary source, let a trusted source.

Then how has it come into existence in the Wikipedia article ?

I want to know that. OoMaR FaRuQ (talk) 04:54, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, we can't use non-English source as a source. We cannot use blog post, social media content as a source. You can challenge wikipedia content by using many templates such as Citation needed, when, verification needed etc. And something does not need need any verification. Example : Sky is blue. In the article the common fact are used. If you want to add more please do so and don't forget to add trusted source. Hamim000000 (talk) 08:40, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that's right. We cannot use unreliable sources. We knew that if English source is not available then we can use non-English sources also if they are reliable. But you have reverted back the contents edited by me. Then why are you not removing such unsourced materials like this one?

OoMaR FaRuQ (talk) 10:53, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your question. I will try to answer your question. Firstly I don't know about usage of 'non-English reliable source'. All I know is we need English sources. If I'm wrong please provide wikipedia guidelines. Secondly some common fact which is known to all doesn't need any verification like banana leaf is green. The spoken language of this district is known to many so verification is not important. If we have any trusted source then we can use otherwise leave it. To add additional information, we need trusted source. I hope this will help you. Feel free to connect me. If reply ping me. @OoMaR FaRuQ

+ I have a doubt. I think your source was not trusted Hamim000000 (talk) 11:12, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

For knowing about 'non-English reliable source'

You can go to Teahouse section of Wikipedia and tap on question number 47. Then it redirects to the answer. You can go further by clicking the link provided in the answer. I hope this will help you.

OoMaR FaRuQ (talk) 13:53, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

+ "The spoken language of this district is known to many so verification is not important."

But the fact is that the language spoken in the northern areas of the district is Khotta, not Khortha. Khotta is spoken in some districts of WB. On the other hand, Khortha is spoken in JH. But mistakenly Khotta of WB is interpreted as Khortha language. OoMaR FaRuQ (talk) 14:03, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"Feel free to connect me"-😊

Above all I am hailing from that area and also a native speaker of Khotta Bhasha. Something I am going to explain you: Khotta Bhasha is pretty much different from Khortha language (which is sometimes unfortunately called as Khotta language). It is a language that has no literary works. It exists as a verbal language only. It is also an endengered language due to recent tradition of non-endogamous marriages. Khotta speakers are of entirely Muslim origin & reside in West Bengal (mainly scattered in parts of Malda, Murshidabad and Birbhum). They are bilingual and speak & learn Bengali, as Khotta language has no written form.

All these contradicts with the Khortha language which is an established language with its own literature, and spoken in Jharkhand & some western borders of WB.

I am giving some sentences in both languages:

Jeise hi duno ke pataa chaalalo ki koi aay raahal ho (Khortha) Jeisai do jhana jaane sakis ki kohi aabe he (Khotta)

Gaachh ke upar se kaadon me kuid ke bhaage laagal halo (Khortha) Gaachh ka uppar se kaadaa me dhap girke (/kud ke) bhaagte raha (Khotta)

It is clearly visible that the languages are somewhat different. Therefore, the Khotta language of West Bengal is mistakenly interpreted as Khortha language.😢

Now, if you ask me about references in English language, I may not be able to give because the language has no literature and people are careless about this language.

But what I have written is the fact.

Thanks for reading such a long comment.

  • so fix it and give a proper edit summary and for now do not add additional information.

Hamim000000 (talk) 14:37, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much for quick response OoMaR FaRuQ (talk) 14:40, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    • In the southern part of this district, the "raadi" form of Bengali language is spoken. "Bongali" in the northern part. We know Bengali language divided into 5 regional "upovasha" language. That is more important.

Hamim000000 (talk) 14:42, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have another suggestion to you to create articles About Khotta People and Khotta Bhasha. (If you can) Thanks OoMaR FaRuQ (talk) 14:46, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I will try OoMaR FaRuQ (talk) 14:50, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello Swaapniil Oomaar! Your additions to River bank erosion along the Ganges in Malda and Murshidabad districts have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 15:36, 3 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, Jangipur High School (H.S), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
