Please don't be put off.

[edit]

Hello, Sylvia. As a retired museum curator, it's really great to see new articles being written about art and art history (and not the usual run of footballers, dull CEOs and minor companies that want to promote themselves here). So, I'm sure you're disappointed to have had your draft on Anna Landolt turned down at Articles for Creation. The reviewer (Robert McClenon) came to our Teahouse to seek further advice, and I responded to him there. (See the thread at Wikipedia:Teahouse#Draft:Anna_Landolt, which will remain there for a few days until it gets archived). I just wanted to thank you for you attempt to write about this person, but to point out that an article such as the one your drafted really must use proper references to good sources that support everything you write. Another editor has since added one reference to your draft, but this still isn't sufficient, I'm afraid. You'll have seen the feedback from the reviewer, and you're welcome to respond by addressing his concerns. But please don't be put off by this rejection of your efforts at this time - we need people like you. We just need all content to be provable by published references. See Help:Referencing for beginners. If you need any further help or encouragement, just pop by the Teahouse and ask for assistance. You can, of course, still continue working on your draft, which will only ever get deleted if you leave it untouched for six months. So there's no rush. Should it be turned into a Redirect, you can always turn it back into a full article about her, providing you address the points we've raised here. You might also wish to address the discrepancy in the spelling of her surname. Is it Landolt or Landholt (as used in the page on The Nightmare)? best wishes for your journey into Wikipedia-land. It can be confusing, but we're here to help when we can. Do have a go at The Wikipedia Adventure which is a fun way to learn the basics. More Comments on Anna Landolt

[edit]

I see that the article on The Nightmare does mention that Fuseli had a lover named Anna Landolt or Anna Landholdt. (Spelling wasn't always standardized in the past, and I assume that they are the same woman, and that he drew a sketch of a woman on the back of the original of The Nightmare, and that some think that the woman was Landolt. Did he draw her at the piano, in sufficient detail that her sacred necklace is visible? If so, that is very interesting. In any case, what is your source? Wikipedia must be based on reliable sources. The well-known front of The Nightmare depicts a woman being possessed by an incubus, and she is not wearing a necklace and there is no piano in view.

Can you please provide more information as to your source(s) about Anna L.? Robert McClenon (talk) 20:42, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
