“Year of the Mouse” represents the original meaning better about 生肖. If you go to some Chinese sites about 十二生肖的选择, many say it's because that 虎、兔、猴、鼠、蛇 是与人的日常、社会生活有着密切关系的动物; 牛、羊、马、猪、狗、鸡，是人类为了经济或其它目的而驯养的动物; 龙是中华民族的象征.

Mouse 是与人的日常、社会生活有着密切关系的动物, 有人之處就會有老鼠(mouse), but not rat. When we grew up, we never saw a rat.

This is why we think the translation of “Year of the Rat” is inaccurate. It should be “Year of the Mouse”.

So we would appreciate it if you could help to spread the words.

to apologise for ruining an editing work by you on 7th february

sir/lady ! I had added director "Hector Babenco" to the list of births on 7th february and I also mentioned one of his famous films. later I saw that you have done some editing work on the film title but I deleted it completely.
the reason is that recently I had problems about mentioning the titles of 2 of director Dziga Vertov films on the list of 12th february births. user:mufka argued that it is not common to mention directors films in calendar lists. I eventually deleted both of them in spite of my wish and although I assume it irreasonable.
I insist on doing the same for Babenco. because a descrimination in favour of Babenco and against Vertov is un-expectable.
I write this long "talk" to you to apologise for ruining your editing work and also to use this oppurtunity to inform somebody about my complains for arbitrary and un-written regulations on calendar pages.it may be useful in the future. thank you :D

Vera Katz and History

Elected Oregon

Hello fellow WikiProject Oregon folks and entities. Thanks to those who helped out with improving Vera Katz and History of Oregon during the last Collaboration of the Week! As you may have noticed, we have changed the banners a bit, but not our dedication to everything Oregon! This week, in honor of the political process, we have: Current Oregon Senate members & Current Oregon House members. Hopefully by November we can have an article on every current member of the Oregon Legislature. So feel free to turn a red link blue or expand an existing article. Since it is an election year, there should be plenty of newspaper stories. Plus, the state archives has this site that allows you to go back and see when they started serving and district info, plus at a minimum show they were a state legislator from a WP:RS. Juxtaposition COTW

Howdy Ho WikiProject Oregon! Time for another installment of Collaboration of the Week. The last few weeks we’ve knocked out quite a few articles of our current state legislators, and even a few former ones too. Great job to all those who helped make it happen. On a related note, we have had several DYKs from this and now have 53 DYKs so far this year (not counting multiples), less than four full months into the year. Last year we had a total of 83 DYKs for the entire year, and 7 combined for 2006 & 2005. So we are well on our way to another record year. Each time an article makes it to the main page as a DYK it will typically get an extra 1000 hits, which is usually far more than the typical 100 hits per month most minor articles receive. List of Oregon State Parks

Before you change the list, please see the extensive discussion on the talk page. By my reasoning there, I believe Wallowa Lake is now called a rec area, but if you think it's a state park, please remove the duplicate entry. There aren't two separate facilities. Thanks! Then, I’m trying something a little different, with the Portland State stuff. We included the two high profile schools during Civil War week last year, so now its time for the younger sibling that gets no respect to get some attention. Hi, re your query about which Halle David Irving spoke at. According to searchlight http://www.searchlightmagazine.com/index.php?link=template&story=79 "In November 1991, at Halle, eastern Germany, Irving delivered what he called a “rabble rousing” speech to a neo-nazi rally." Kuljeric

Hi Tess: your correciton of Zagreb Academy of Music to University of Zagreb's Music Academy is not the best choice. While technically correct, both the industry practice and the name of the institutions show preference to former name. U. of Zagreb's Music Academy give the reader the message that this is a secondary school (preparatory division); Croatians likewise prefer Zagreb Academy of Music. However, I am the author of both the material on IMCA's website (listed on the External links) and the Wikipedia article. Since I am new to this, does this self-borrowing present a problem? Self borrowing probably isn't a problem. You'll have to list where you got the material from, and/or that you give wikipedia persmission to publish this material. 1 Year of the Collaboration of the Week

Ssssh, Be Very Very Quiet, its Oregon COTW time

Howdy folks, its time for this week’s edition of Oregon’s Collaboration of the Week. First off, great job the last two weeks with Greg Oden & the Hospital red link drive. We had close to ten new hospital articles and two DYKs () plus other improvements to the list itself. So thank you to those who helped out. This week, we have on a sad note Kevin Duckworth, and the Statesman Journal. Duckworth should have plenty of sources so hopefully in tribute we can get his article up to standards. With the SJ, hopefully we can get it above a stub so all three of the top three papers are no longer stubs, and maybe even a DYK and GA like we got from the Register-Guard? Blue Mountains

I have put the "List of Blue Mountains topics" back where it was on the Blue Mts disambig. page. The whole idea of having the list of Blue Mts articles was that people would go to the dis. page and would then go to the Blue Mts page, and would have a list of all the articles at their fingertips, so they can see what's there and take their pick, instead of stabbing in the dark. That was the whole idea of having a list of Blue Mts articles. When that list is there, there's no need to have the "Blue Mountains (Australia)" link on the dis page at all, because it's on the list.
