2021 U.S. Senior Women's Open

[edit]

Thank you for cleaning up the U.S. Senior Women's Open articles. Still one question I can't find the answer for. How did Catherine Panton-Lewis qualify for the 2021 tournament? She was not playing in any of the qualifying competitions on the USGA page https://www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/championships/2021/2021-us-senior-womens-open-qualifying-results.html and she was not in any of the exempt categories on the USGA list of April 5, 2021 https://www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/championships/2021/u-s--senior-women-s-open/articles/currently-exempt-players-for-3rd-us-senior-womens-open.html EEJB (talk) 16:44, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea how she was exempt. Tewapack (talk) 18:13, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Legends Tour

[edit]

Hello, Should the name of the Legends Tour article, be changed to the new official name of the tour; The Legends of the LPGA? Regards, EEJB (talk) 07:33, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

How is what the new 2022 section header, the short summary for Nelly Korda#2022, that used to show: "2022: #1 world rank for 4 weeks, then #2" that you deleted, any worse (it is a shorter length) than how the section header short summary reads for Nelly Korda#2021, that you did not touch: "2021: Olympic Gold, 4 wins, lowest scoring average, #1 world rank" that you and I thought was a good, punchy summary? Do you allow anybody else to have the last word in posting a change or an addition? You have made so many, in my opinion, insignificant and unnecessary changes to what I and others have posted in keeping pages up-to-date. Not saying you never make a good change, which you have frequently done, so kudos to you for those. But, unless there is a rule against it, or is showing misleading information, do you think you could just let it go instead of making a change that does not materially make it better than how it was? Just curious, since you wrote the comment, "poor section header" but no explanation on why it was poor, compared to 2021. As I noted, the 2021 summary was longer. Maybe you can let me know what I can do to make posts better so you don't need to bother changing it, and if you do see a problem, add a comment saying specifically why it needs to be fixed, and not just say it is poor, then deleting it completely. Thank you. MondayMonday1966 (talk) 10:40, 5 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The difference between the 2021 header and 2022 is that 2021 summarizes the whole year while 2022 was only summarizing a month and the header would be changing weekly - see WP:DATED. Better to wait until the year is over to try to summarize it unless she does something outstanding like win a major. You also need to keep in mind WP:NPOV when editing. 1924 PGA Championship revert

[edit]

Your revert of an edit to 1924 PGA Championship states "no risk of ambiguity" here, yet there is always a potential ambiguity when a date is specified without the year. WP:DATE recommends including the year with the date, and you only have to ask yourself when the 2020 Summer Olympics were held (answer: from 23 July to 8 August 2021) to see that. Would you please reconsider your revert. Thanks. Truthanado (talk) 00:41, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Follows straight from the example in WP:DATE. Tewapack (talk) 18:34, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Margaret Abbott

[edit]

Hi! Thanks for your edits to Margaret Abbott. I am aiming to get the article to GA status, and probably even FA at some point. Do you have any suggestions for the article? Thanks! – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 15:32, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey!

[edit]

Curious why you decided to revert the infobox changes to Dustin Johnson. Is the new tour not official yet, or? Skarmory (talk • contribs) 04:04, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Playing one event on a tour does not make one a member nor has Johnson resigned from the PGA Tour (as Kevin Na has). Tewapack (talk) 14:31, 6 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

LIV Golf Invitational London

[edit]

Have you any idea if this event is supposed to be only for this current year or will it be an ongoing event? Because if this is a continuing event (which I would assume it to be), surely the field section is unnecessary? Jimmymci234 (talk) 19:53, 10 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Only time will tell if it repeats. Tewapack (talk) 22:41, 10 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Sportspeople from Halmstad

[edit]

Category:Sportspeople from Halmstad ≠ Category:Sportspeople in Halmstad. Eurohunter (talk) 16:41, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"People from foo" has generally meant anyone born in foo or lived a significant time in foo. Tewapack (talk) 16:49, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
How? Isn't "Sportspeople from Halmstad" different than "Sportspeople in Halmstad" in English? How it can be unclear? Eurohunter (talk) 19:38, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's just how these categories have been used and there is not category "Category:Sportspeople in Halmstad". Tewapack (talk) 19:41, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thanks for your revert. I'm trying to make sure I'm not making changes to the titles from articles, but I have changed a couple that I didn't mean to with the auto-replace. I appreciate when people catch it and leave an explanation, like you did. Hey man im josh (talk) 22:05, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Challenge Tour

[edit]

"not good enough reason to split over two lines" is entirely opinion, and does not violate any MOS. Makes more sense to me to line break this as helps get all the flags to fall aligned with each other, creating greater tidiness, like you the way you have left it on 2019 Challenge Tour for example. Jimmymci234 (talk) 19:18, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

2019 is different in that there are 3 golfers tied. Aligning the flags is entirely your opinion - I see no reason two split a one-line entry into two. Tewapack (talk) 19:33, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

So I assume your reason for leaving 2019 due to 3 golfers being tied is to keep them aligned?? Jimmymci234 (talk) 19:39, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
To avoid confusion, in that the number of wins applies to all three, not just the first person listed, and to not repeat the # of wins for each person. Alignment is secondary. Tewapack (talk) 21:48, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to disagree but by that logic if it can be done in 2019, then there's no reason why same principle can be applied elsewhere, irregardless of how many players are tied for most wins. Jimmymci234 (talk) 17:51, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page watcher) I'd be happy if we simply removed the flags, which tend to clutter these infoboxes rather than provide valuable summary information. wjematherplease leave a message... 17:54, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

JC Ritchie European Tour exemption

[edit]

I originally seen him in category 17 and assumed he got status from Sunshine Tour via the 2021/22 OoM, however was confused as to why he was still playing on Challenge Tour a couple weeks back. I know as well that the Korean Tour OoM winner is also supposed to get a card but Kim Joo-hyung never got one from winning 2021 Korean OoM. Leads me to think that there is some inconsistencies with that category. Jimmymci234 (talk) 20:00, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
