If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Kill orion requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. June 2015[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Kill orion, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. I have noticed that some of your recent genre changes, such as the one you made to Nine Inch Nails, have conflicted with our neutral point of view and verifiability policies. While we invite all users to contribute constructively to Wikipedia, we urge all editors to provide reliable sources for edits made. When others disagree, we recommend you seek consensus for certain edits by discussing the matter on the article's talk page. Thank you. MusikAnimal talk 19:49, 6 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you change genre in pages without discussion or sources. Changing genres without references is considered highly disruptive because editors go on circles over what classifies as what. An editor that mass changes band genres without adding references is what is known as a "genre warrior" in Wikipedia lingo and they cause other editors a lot of work to undo those changes. If you are really interested in music genres, perhaps Wikipedia:WikiProject Music/Music genres task force will be of interest to you. But please read some of our policies such as WP:V, WP:RS, and WP:NPOV before proceeding. Better yet, start with Wikipedia:Introduction. Jason Quinn (talk) 19:50, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Help with genre editing[edit]

Hi, TheHeavyMetalThunder. I see you are trying but having some trouble related to genre editing. This is a difficult area sometimes for newcomers to Wikipedia. The key to successful editing here is understanding how Wikipedia handles sourcing. You'll notice that sometimes a band's genres have a source and sometimes they do not. Ideally, every genre should be sourced using a reliable source. If I may offer a suggestion, try finding sources for existing genres or those you wish to add. For example, if you wish to add "progressive metal" to a some band, add a reference that says they are "progressive metal" explicitly. (See Help:References.) If you wish to remove a genre, make a bonafide effort to find a source with that genre. If you cannot, remove it and say in your edit summary something like "could not find source for this genre after much trying". Genres for bands are kind of like a sleeping volcano and can erupt into an edit war. Other good piece of advice, is to use the talk pages. You can use them to explain your rationales. You can use them to help settle disagreement. You can use them to poll for other editor's advice. You must accept at some point that genres are not well defined and their borders are fuzzy so any classification of bands in to (or out of) genres is subject to uncertainty. There's lots of great information that could be added to music articles that is factual in nature and avoids the genre merry-go-round. You may wish to defocus your efforts from genres altogether for the time being until you gain more experience editing. Jason Quinn (talk) 15:43, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
