Hi. You appear to want to describe the round ball game in Australia as "(association) football". There has been agonising and extensive discussion on this matter, and the consensus is to call it "soccer". The most recent exhaustive discussion is at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (Football in Australia)/Archive 4#Another RfC on naming. Please don't change any more Australian articles away from "soccer". They will simply be changed back. HiLo48 (talk) 12:21, 20 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Just a quick note[edit]

I figured I'd send you a quick message on here. I'm a bit of a lurker on things like the 442 Forums and stuff, so I know how... Informal... You can be. :P Anyway, I do have to ask, I figure that you live in the Northern NSW region, but the thing I find a little odd is that you seem more inclined to create pages linked to the Northern NSW State League, rather than the Northern NSW NPL? I mean, I couldn't give a shit why (it's all super helpful, btw!), it's just odd that you seem to focus more on the second division of N. NSW Football, rather than the NPL division.

Anyway, keep up the awesome work, man. If I become active on those forums, I'll let you know my username on there. :P

Take care! J man708 (talk) 04:17, 4 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks man i don't know if youll get this as I have no idea how to work this thing. If you could reply that would be great haha.

Im from Victoria actually. I just have a massive interest in football from the bottom to top. Itsan unhealthy obsession. You should get an account and join the debate :)

Nah, I didn't get it. I just had to check back here. I think you can be notified by tagging someone with the @ sign before their name or something, but I'm not 100%. The User Talk Wiki page says to just write on the other person's wall. Anyway, I'm surprised you're from Victoria, with all the interest in NNSW football. Anyway, I hope I haven't made shit too difficult to deal with by adding in ridiculous competition divisions, like the NNSW Zone 4 or the WA Sunday League. I'm sure we'll keep the NPL rounds updated and just add to those lesser comps every few weeks or so. I dunno. Hahaha.
I reckon I will. So far I've joined in on Reddit and just post stupid shit like this - http://www.reddit.com/r/Aleague/comments/2jjf6z/if_the_ffa_cup_were_held_in_201314/
I'm sure I have too much time on my hands, too. :P J man708 (talk) 05:48, 4 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It's just a pity that you don't know how to use a talk page. Hahaha.
Funnily enough, I'm currently working on more pages as we speak! I got all of the tables completed for the NSL updated. Did you have any idea that there was a Cup Winners Cup in 1986? I sure as hell didn't! Hakoah qualified for it from the 1986 National Soccer League. Weird, huh?
Anyway, I'm gonna try and build up some pages from the NSL Cup in the next few months, but sources are a bitch to find. I'd also like to get the Australia Cup articles up and running, but I think I'll physically have to go to the State Library to find sources on that one. :(
What about yourself? Do you have any pages you're interested in fixing up or building? Yell out if you need any assistance with them if you do! J man708 (talk) 03:22, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
By all means, if you can find the sources, go for it... The sources will be awful to find, though. I mean, even the trophy itself for the comp was found in a skip full of trash at Hakoah's clubroom, so I daresay that the FFA don't care too much to keep the information of that around. Hahaha. As for doing awesome work? I've just got too much time on my hands and too little of a life. :P
Currently, I'm trying to bring in a new colouring system for each competition's tables. Feel free to throw your two cents in here :) J man708 (talk) 02:19, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@TheSelectFew:, I figured I'd just double check your opinion about the FFA Cup Qualifying page. Do you reckon it's easier to read, now that I've edited the 4th-7th Round, or was it easier before where it was listed state by state?
- J man708 (talk) 12:57, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've just used the FA Cup page as a template, and kept it as close to that page as I could. - J man708 (talk) 12:58, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sweet! I was hoping I didn't make it look all Frankenstein-y and shit, but... Whatever. It should look good come mid-February. :P
Sure thing! I saw a preliminary list quite some time ago, but I don't think it was official or anything. But yeah, throw me a link and I'll chuck it all together in the next hour or so, if you want.
Also, you're horrible at using Talk Pages. :P J man708 (talk) 13:09, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Found a PDF from FFV, dated a week ago. I'll use that. Cheers for the heads up! J man708 (talk) 13:39, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm gonna give it a crack. Hahaha. A lot of them should be starting the Preliminary Round(s) really soon, so I figured that I'd get it all ready to just throw the results straight in. - J man708 (talk) 13:24, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The ones I've come across are on each state federation website. Also, the Brisbane matches have been listed on The Washing Line website. Unfortunately, some state feds are a lot further along in advertising these fixtures than others. :( - J man708 (talk) 13:56, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, some of them are in less than a fortnight. I think that's the FFV Preliminary Rounds from memory, although I could be wrong. I figure we might have some issues with NT. The helpful thing is, with the competition staggered like it is, NT should start their matches a lot later on, when quite a lot of teams have been weened out. I can't imagine NT contributing more than 16 clubs which is why I only included them from Round 4 onwards (I wouldn't be surprised if they only had about a dozen teams). Also, I did the same with the ACT (as they generally have a million teams but only about 20 clubs), SA (due to the FFSA/Amateur League spat and the fact that I seriously doubt the collegiate league teams would enter [the FFSA Federation Cup only used to really contain Mount Barker United, anyway]) and TAS (as they have even less interest than the ACT). I'm basically just trying to make the rounds resemble the FA Cup as much as I can. - J man708 (talk) 14:44, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I never have a plan. Hahaha. I just know that it will look a shitload better when it doesn't contain placeholders and actually mentions which team has done what. :P
As for the spat, I'm not 100% sure, but from what I gather, the SA Amateur Soccer League clubs were being pressured into fees and charges that were too high for their liking from the SASL/FFSA. The SAASL has maintained to keep club costs low, so it appears to be the better option for amateur clubs. Some of the top Sunday Premier League clubs could probably beat the lower ranked State League clubs. The Collegiate League runs as a competition for old scholars clubs, but they are affliated with the FFSA, which means that unless this spat gets resolved, the Collegiate teams are far more likely to play in the FFA Cup in my opinion than the SAASL. Unfortunately, I have no idea if this is close to being resolved or not, I'm afraid (but from what I've read, a few SAASL clubs would be keen to play in the FFA Cup). I'm more involved with the Collegiate League, myself. Straight up, going off of skill level alone, the SAASL Premier League should be SA's third division. - J man708 (talk) 16:01, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
http://footballchaos.com/index.php/news-blogs/news-archives/1366-ffa-cup-entry-to-close-on-tuesday-draw-on-wed - J man708 (talk) 14:34, 2 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hahaha... SHUDDUP! :P
Thankfully SA got screwed for FFA Cup spots again because of it. We had a NPL team beat an A-League team (the fucking ACL Champions!), we had them keep a clean sheet in doing so, they had the second deepest cup run of all non-A-League clubs, we had a team win the FFA Cup AND we had a team win the NPL Finals Series. How do we get rewarded for this effort? No spot increase! So annoying. The thing that shits me most, is that if the FFA Cup rounds in SA were to contain the SAASL and Collegiate League clubs, that would justify SA having more teams, even though it would still go down to an all NPL semi final... Would West Adelaide really have done a worse job in the FFA Cup than FNQ FC? - J man708 (talk) 00:35, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean that you're not a fan of the A-League page set up? What is it specifically that you don't like?
It may aswell have been a way of blackmailing FFSA to get their shit together, rather than allowing this to fall into a status quo. Still though, I reckon the Collegiate League teams are more likely to take part in the FFA Cup qualifiers than the SAASL. Adelaide City did beat a team on the bottom without a win. I remember mentioning in a "Your club is so shit" thread on Reddit that at least Adelaide United could draw against Adelaide City, unlike WSW. Also, remember that while WSW won the ACL, Adelaide City beat WSW, Bentleigh Greens beat AC, Perth Glory beat BG, Adelaide United beat PG and Newcastle Jets beat AU... I think we both know who the real Asian Champions are. :P
As for Adelaide hosting a WCQ match, I'm not that surprised. Adelaide last hosted the Socceroos in their friendly against New Zealand in early 2011. I would suspect Adelaide Oval could be a goer.
- J man708 (talk) 09:31, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, yep yep. I'm pretty neutral over whether it should stay or go. It was listed by someone else to be deleted. I just don't want information to go missing along the way. The club season articles are sometimes not kept up to date, whereas that one generally is (Well, it isn't anymore, now that it has an AfD tag on it).
Anyway, are you planning on going along to any of the FFA Cup early round fixtures? I think I might go along for shits and giggles. - J man708 (talk) 10:36, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that's what I meant. The local games from like Kingston Heath or something. As for the Asian Cup, maybe it had no interest from Australia, but shitloads worldwide? I'm pretty sure that the 2000 Olympics would've trumped it somewhere during a opening or closing ceremony or some shit. - J man708 (talk) 12:20, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Heads up - FFSA NPL @FFSANPL "Round 1 of the @FFACup will be drawn at half time of the season opener next Wednesday 11 Feb @ Adelaide Shores. Game Ko is 7pm."
If only they meant Round 1 and not actually Round 3-4. :P - J man708 (talk) 02:54, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Surviving. Hahaha. I joined the forums. I'll send you a PM on there the next time I check it out. :D - J man708 (talk) 14:13, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Lolwut? What happened? - J man708 (talk) 01:40, 15 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sebastian_Ryall#Criminal_charge - J man708 (talk) 06:06, 15 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Christ, don't remind me. We have a tendency to fuck those sorts of games up. Still though, a 3-1-0 record against Perth for 2014-15 is pretty good. I've always maintained in my mind that Perth are pretenders to the A-League. I think that Victory have to be the favourites to win it. Perth can't beat Adelaide, Adelaide can't win against Victory and Victory seem to drop points to teams like City and Sydney. The winner is simply gonna be who fucks up less. :P - J man708 (talk) 12:43, 15 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It's inevitable that you're gonna get the out of form and less fit players who took the European career route that never paid off and then came home. These players will always flood the market. I reckon more should've been done to lure the golden generation to the A-League for a season or two, but that undoubtedly would've negatively affected the strength of the current national team. I don't blame them for thinking it will be AU and MVC. I've always maintained that the Nix are a dark horse. Just like Fremantle in the AFL. They'll both eventually win a title, as they're both not shit clubs at the moment. Lols. Any WC qualifiers? I'm not sure. Haven't heard anything about Adelaide, just Perth. I'd hope so. I'm sure we'd just get duped into some shit like Australia vs Chinese Taipei or some shit that Australia could play away and still win like 5-0. The last match held in Adelaide was a friendly against NZ in 2011. Before that was the 2004 OFC Nations Cup. Clearly we get the matches that count... How much longer are you exiled from 442? - J man708 (talk) 01:55, 17 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah man, I'd be curious as to how many the NT could pull on the Gold Coast, to be honest. I think that could be interesting. Good to see your unbanned! Did you get the messages I sent through on there? Hahaha. That fucking cat pic! I see what you mean about NZ. I personally just want to see us get the 4 ACL spots we deserve. We need 12 teams from Australia in the League. I don't think having 12 Aus teams and 2 NZ teams would be so bad. But yeah, it's a little odd having a Kiwi team in our national comp, especially with them in a different confederation. I do think the A-League is perfect for players from NZ. Most NZ national team players could walk onto an A-League starting XI and they're close enough to home that the strength of their NT won't be compromised by travel. I wouldn't be surprised to see more players come over from there. It almost benefits them as much as Australian players! - J man708 (talk) 14:44, 18 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Jesus. How are you in so much shit with them all the time? Hahaha. I've been checking out the NNSW twitter page for a lot of them. Or just search #FFACup on there. It seems to be the most updated source for the member federations to use to quickly give out 140 characters at a time. :P - J man708 (talk) 00:31, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Amen, broseph. Should be good shit! I hope they don't disappoint! I would love for them to show up SA and have more entrants! That would surely annoy FFSA into attempting an olive branch somewhere!- J man708 (talk) 14:25, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, Adelaide Vipers and Fulham United are coming across. It's baby steps, but still a promosing sign. Hopefully we can start to have a full Round of 32 fixture list for next year's Federation Cup (the FFA Cup qualifiers). Also, another thing? The FFNT's FFA Cup draw will be at 7:30 tonight, just incase you're wondering why it hasn't happened yet. :P - J man708 (talk) 01:20, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've always been more of a Capoeira guy myself. Updates onto the FFA Cup qualifiers page? Yeah, I was doing that on the weekend when the NNSW had a million matches going on. I think that WA are set to start their regional qualifiers soon, too. Good to see this shit progressing! Do you have Steam by any chance? If you do, I'll get your username on there so that we can IM, rather than messaging the old fashioned way. Hahaha. Practising your Wikipedia-ness? Just don't forget to sign your posts with four of these ~ things at the end! - J man708 (talk) 05:01, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, okay. Steam is the only thing I have on my comp that is an instant messenger. Fucking PC Gamers! But yeah, those four tildes will mark your message with a signature, leaving your name, time and date. - J man708 (talk) 07:17, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Club updates? If you mean the NT FFA Cup thing, they haven't put anything up as yet. - J man708 (talk) 09:25, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
From what I know, it's the draw itself. Which should be good. Apparently Borroloola Cyclones are in it. They might have to travel over 1,000km to play matches...
EDIT - Dude, seriously! Get Steam! - J man708 (talk) 09:34, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I daresay that isn't Round 1 and Round 2, but actually like Rounds 5 or so. All of those teams are NorZone Premier Leagues, which is Darwin. I daresay they are probably the best teams in NT. - J man708 (talk) 01:45, 25 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Are you online at the momento? - J man708 (talk) 13:01, 25 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

How do I do that?

Chuck a bad boy like that in. I can access one account on my phone and the other on my laptop.

http://users.adam.com.au/ahowe/maps/ffacup15-matches_all.html

@TheSelectFewMelb: I could try and do it, but I'm shithouse with figuring out stuff like that! Also, those lower divisions of Victoria will get done, I also need to do the ACT, btw. I'll do them when I find the energy and will to do them. Hahaha. It's easier to do it when the next season has started, so we know which teams get relegated, promoted and which ones get reprieved... Man, I love how we still get one spot in the FFA Cup, being the same amount as NT. I knew SA would get shafted! - J man708 (talk) 07:43, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
If you could that would be shweet cos my uni email closed when i graduated.

I would agree with you but you did conceed against an NT side dont forget ;) but seriously if what is true then Blacktown get screwed for winning the NPL. What a joke. SA should get a third spot instead of punishing winners.

No sweat about the state leagues. I fogured you were waiting for something like that. Hence why I didnt contribute. Didnt want to screw it up.

@TheSelectFewMelb: Yeah man, just been working on shit like this. - J man708 (talk) 21:05, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
