hi Tintin. I want to upload some images from this website http://palakkad.nic.in/. It is a government website, so it is in the public domain right. Hello Tintin. That's an interesting idea, and one I hadn't thought of. Are you looking for the number of edits per day since the article was created, or the number in the last month, or what? I'm at work now, and I'll have a look at Wisden 1966 when I get home tonight. Seem to remember it's dominated by Hammond obits, including some extremely strange prose from Cardus. Johnlp 09:52, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

Right, it's not very long, 11 lines in all. It reads:

"Vizianagram, The Rajkumar of, Sir Gajapatairaj Vijaya Ananda, who died in Benares, Northern India, on December 2, aged 59, captained the Indian team in England in 1936. He showed his strength of character before the first Test match by sending home as a disciplinary measure India's most successful all-rounder, L. Amarnath, who had scored more runs than anyone and hit two centuries in the game against Essex at Brentwood. In three matches against England, "Vizzy", as he was known in the cricket world, scored only 33 runs, his highest innings being 19 not out at Lord's. On the whole tour, however, his aggregate reached 600, including 60 from the University bowling at Oxford, average 16.21. Three times he was elected President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. He was a member of the Indian Legislative Assembly."

And that's it. Wisden in 1966 was pretty much an English publication, with very limited coverage of cricket elsewhere. Cricket in India gets seven pages, whereas cricket at the English public schools gets 59. I've got Wisden 1937 somewhere if you want me to look up more about the 1936 tour. Wisden has him born on 28 December 1905. Bailey, Thorn and Wynne-Thomas's original Who's Who of Cricketers (1984 edition) has the same date and says "Benares, India" for place of birth, as well as place of death. Johnlp 16:42, 26 December 2005 (UTC)

Hi, deletion sorting is causing some problems. e.g. Gems from Vedas - this and someother articles have been relisted within a space of 3 days --> Shd. we again be adding it to the WP:DSI page? If we do, do we delete it from the previous date? Hey Tintin... I apologize, but I have another question, hope you are not annoyed For example the image of Adi Sankaracharya is commonly available in every household. It is generic and no one knows the artist who owns the copyright. Image Search on Google

• so does some on have copyright on the image?
• Can these kind of genric images be used on Wikipedia?
• Can I upload scanned copies of calendars or genric art material?
• Where I can find out that the creator / owner of the image has given up the copyright or released it in public domain?

Yep, while I've never looked at the "technical" side of bowling it (eg where the back of the hand points), the pictures accurately show what I've seen of it. Harvey is mentioned bowling it here, here and even in ball-by-ball commentary, here (over 41.1). And yeh, I haven't heard it called the "reverse" ("back of the hand slower ball" is the only 'name' i can recall) - but as someone mentioned, it may be a regional thing. When taking an exam for my English Cricket Board Level 2 coaching badge there was a multi-choice question on slower balls. One of the slower balls it listed was the reverse. I discussed the delivery a bit with Essex coach Terry Charrington. I'd also come across fast bowling coach Ian Pont using this term when advertising his courses. I'm only an occasional bowler, but it's a nice variation even for my military medium. It's easier than most slower balls to spot, but the ball turns much more than a normal leg cutter as the seam hits the deck like a leg break. --David.castell 23:55, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

Ahh. That second link above - it talks about dipping the shoulder. I've not been taught how to bowl a reverse, I learnt it by experimenting. I found that I have to dip my left shoulder quite a bit at point of release in order to get the back of the hand in the right position. I feel that the dip makes the ball more obvious to the batsman. I'd thought that someone more supple than me could bowl it with less dip. Very interesting. G'day again, and thanks for all the corrections - I try to check links but sometimes stuff up (eg New Zealand Sutcliffe for the Pommy one!) Re Melbourne - I have noted locality/state for all entries (where known). Sometimes one can be precise, eg Toowong is a suburb of Brisbane, and should be named as the place. On other cases only the city is given so one has to be general. In most cases "Melbourne, Victoria" would mean "a suburb within the metropolitan area of Melbourne", Victoria. But there's no point linking to the state of Victoria, or NSW, or whatever. Does this make sense? MulgaBill 03:50, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

Now you're getting me confused! (Not difficult, I agree!) What I wanted to achieve was to link to the specific place, but to use the convention of place/state. Hence Melbourne, Victoria which prints as "Melbourne, Victoria" and links to the city, but not to the state (if anyone wants to know more about the state, they're welcome to follow links from the specific place). I just thought this would be the simplest. But if you prefer another convention, I don't mind, you're welcome to make whatever changes you think appropriate. Cheers.
