Question from Majadazi on Symbolab (20:51, 30 August 2023)[edit]

Hi can you help me about term3 topic in technical mathematics --Majadazi (talk) 20:51, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Majadazi, and welcome to Wikipedia! Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, where articles can be written about notable topics. It seems like you are trying to seek help related to your academic studies. While some of our articles in the topics you are studying may be helpful and relevant to your situation, Wikipedia is not the right place to ask other users for academic assistance. Please let me know if this was not what you were asking, or if you have any further questions. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 21:23, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Question from SISH Institute (01:01, 31 August 2023)[edit]

Hi! How do i edit the header? I wish to change from 'SDH Institute' to 'SISH Institute'. Thank you --SISH Institute (talk) 01:01, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Only editors who have made more than 10 edits and have been around for more than 3 days can move pages. Also, see WP:COI. I strongly recommend you avoid that page, since you have an obvious conflict of interest. 47.227.95.73 (talk) 01:13, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Question from GoGoProd (16:26, 28 August 2023)[edit]

Hi, Tol. I just created my first new entry on James J. Berg, writer, scholar, and editor. I want to confirm that it actually published and isn't only published on my User Page. How can I tell if I published it correctly? --GoGoProd (talk) 16:26, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@GoGoProd Forgive me for butting in, but I have blanked the copy of your draft from your userpage (and left a short explanatory note there). You can delete it and use that page again, but not for drafts, please.
The better version of your draft is not yet published. There is a huge blue 'submit' button in your sandbox which you can press when you're ready to submit it for review.
However, as this is a Biography of a Living Person, you need to ensure every single statement of fact is supported with an inline citation before you do submit it. Anything that cannot be substantiated (see WP:V) should be removed, as we do not accept personal knowledge that people just "happen to know". Regards, Nick Moyes (talk) 21:41, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, @GoGoProd, and thanks for responding, @Nick Moyes. It appears that, now that Nick Moyes has removed the draft from your userpage, you currently have two versions of the draft โ€” at User:GoGoProd/sandbox (in your sandbox) and Draft:James J. Berg (in draftspace). Neither has been fully published as an article yet, but the latter version (in draftspace) has been submitted for review. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 21:16, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your help, Tol and @NickMoyes. Nick, I did put citations throughout, so I believe I have substantiation for everything. I did find some of the information on Dr. Berg's own site, though I didn't use that as a citation - I understand that personal sites or sites for commerce or are not seen at legitimate citation material. I've only used third party citations. Again, thank you for helping a newbie. GoGoProd (talk) 15:48, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, @GoGoProd. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 16:06, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Use TolBot in drive[edit]

Hello Tol!

The new pages patrol was wondering if we could use Tolbot in our October backlog drive?

Thanks! 11:04, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Illusion Flame: Of course! I'll work on setup & configuration this weekend. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 14:39, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's awesome, thank you @Tol! Last time we reached out I mentioned that we'd be using weighted values for redirects and articles, are you able to accommodate this? Redirects will be worth 0.25 points and articles will be worth 1 point. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:33, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Hey man im josh: Yes; this should be reasonable to implement. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 19:40, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sticky table headers[edit]

You created this template: {{Import style}}. Please see:

Is there any reason the German sticky table headers method could not be incorporated into English Wikipedia? With visible borders. With the ability to work with multi-row complex headers. To coexist with Vector 2022. --Timeshifter (talk) 06:19, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have replied on the Village Pump discussion. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 13:55, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Newoslo (17:06, 17 September 2023)[edit]

Hey is it easy to get my new article live --Newoslo (talk) 17:06, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Newoslo; welcome to Wikipedia! It would seem that you are referring to Draft:Pritam Dutta. Wikipedia has notability guidelines to determine which topics are presumed notable, and only topics deemed notable warrant articles in Wikipedia. You can view the message that the reviewer left on your talk page and at the top of the draft; in particular, note the notability guidelines on academics and authors that the reviewer left. The draft you are working on should demonstrate that its subject meets one of these notability guidelines (or the general notability guideline) for it to be accepted. Review[edit]

Hello! Please look at my draft. Thank you! 2A00:1FA1:4202:3CD0:295F:1020:1FB4:8368 (talk) 11:46, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi; taking a look at the draft, I have declined it for lack of evidence to demonstrate notability and a non-neutral point of view. Further details are in the decline message at the top of the draft and on your talk page. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 15:50, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A 200-article move job for TolBot[edit]

See Talk:2022 European Wrestling Championships โ€“ Men's freestyle 57 kg#Requested move 17 September 2023 where there consensus to lowercase "Freestyle" in the article titles listed at User:Dicklyon/Freestyle to lowercase. Is TolBot up for that? Dicklyon (talk) 14:42, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, @Dicklyon! I've taken a look at the RM and list, and will process and queue up the moves later today. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 14:55, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
ย Moved all as Run 6 of TolBot 13D, as I had some time and the batch was not too large. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 16:01, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Dicklyon (talk) 03:52, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

New pages patrol newsletter[edit]

Hello Tol/Archives/2023,

New Page Review article queue, March to September 2023

Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!

October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.

PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.

Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.

Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.
