Avdhela Project[edit]

Hello, I have reverted you again at Avdhela Project. I appreciate your edits on Aromanian topics but I believe we should maintain the â spelling. There is no fixed Aromanian alphabet because there is no central regulatory institution for the language. Aromanians are free to use the spellings they prefer. In Albania and North Macedonia the 1997 system approved in Bitola, including the use of ã, has become norm. In Romania in the other hand ã is as far as I know barely used, Aromanians there prefer using letters present in the Romanian alphabet. See for example this article by Tașcu Lala, an Aromanian journalist from Romania [1]. He uses â in places where Aromanians from Albania/Macedonia would use ã. Also, it's pretty hard to argue for another spelling when it is the Avdhela Project itself (which by the way is based in Romania) that uses the spelling with â for its Aromanian name, don't you agree? See the name in their Facebook page [2]. In their official website [3], in their presentation in Aromanian, there is not a single ã, â is used instead.

Maybe in the future the Aromanians will come together and agree finally on a single unified spelling and on creating some kind of institution to regulate their language. Today that is not the situation so we should adopt the preferred spellings of the communities in each country. I stand my ground that we shouldn't use a spelling of an unstandardized language that an official entity doesn't use. If you wish I can request a WP:Third opinion. An uninvolved volunteer user will see the dispute and offer a third opinion on what should we do. This is one of Wikipedia's procedures of dealing with user disputes. But I am talking about parts in Aromanian. "Biblioteca di Culturâ Armâneascâ" is not in Romanian. It's a project made by Aromanians related to Aromanian culture and language, it cannot not talk Aromanian. Again look at their website [4]. This is how they present themselves in Aromanian:
Suţata Predania pritu proiectulu Avdhela ari tu scupo si-află, si editeadzâ şi s-dhuruseascâ operili ştiinţifiţi şi artistiţi ţi ţânu di avearea culturală armâneascâ şi tuti operili ligati di aestâ aveari. Indeed it doesn't make sense to use different letters for the same words, but that's the point of Aromanian not being standardized. Maybe one day the Aromanians will organize and start printing dictionaries and grammar books that say the same. But considering some even refuse to use the Latin alphabet I see we're far from it. That's one of several. It's by Tiberius Cunia, who was an important figure at the 1997 Bitola standardization congress. There are several others. I think Matilda Caragiu Marioțeanu published one. There is also another by Emil Vrabie of the Society Farsharotu of the US. This one I could find in free access [5], it doesn't use ã, and I see it uses â, ă and even á (and also é/í/ó/ú, I even saw ĭ after taking a quick look). That's why I say there isn't one single unified spelling. I think all schools in Albania and Macedonia use the same spelling of Cunia's dictionary, but from what I've read it's not widespread in Romania.

It depends on how the page was written. It would have needed to have a few sources. They would have also needed to be reliable, because for example blogs aren't allowed, while academic publications and generally newspapers are. The contents of the article would have also needed to show it is an important enough (or WP:NOTABLE in Wikipedia terminology) topic to have an article, rather than being a short two-sentence long article (no idea if yours was like that). I delayed writing an article on the church for some time because I knew it would be complicated to show it is important (notable) enough and that I'd have to write a lengthy page. The page took me 3 weeks to write while alternating with real life (most of it was in a weekend anyway).
If you wanted to write articles now I could help you. To be fair there are few topics on Aromanians in Albania that don't have a page while deserving one. For example, so far I haven't seen enough information to write on Aromanian cultural societies in Albania. Biographies are the biggest pressing issue. Examples are Prokop Mima and Haralambie Balamaci (perhaps more familiar to you as Papa Llambro Ballamaçi), for which I had planned to eventually write a page.
Regarding the weightlifters, if you can send me a source showing their Aromanian ethnicity I can add them back. I couldn't find any but I don't speak Albanian so you might have it easier. The only way is to wait for the copyright to expire. I am not well informed on copyright matters but I believe that it is okay to upload anything that is more than 100 years old, and its important to stress that we must know it is definitively more than 100 years old and not just possibly (so if you don't know, don't upload it). This is according to American law which we follow because it is where the Wikimedia Foundation is based in. You uploaded a picture which seems to have been published in an Albanian newspaper on 27 October 1925, right after the church was consecrated [6]. So it could be used starting from 27/28 October 2025. You also uploaded a picture from 1931, when the earthquake happened. About that one, well, see you in 2032.
Age is not the only thing to take into account here. If the author explicitly left the picture in public domain we can use it. But I think this is pretty much exclusive of the modern Internet times. Also images from communist regimes tend to be in the public domain. At least that's the case with Romania. I am not an expert in the topic. But if the age criteria is not met it probably can't be uploaded.
By the way, upload pictures in Wikimedia Commons [7], not here. If you upload it on Commons, it can be used on any Wikipedia. You have been uploading pictures to English Wikipedia so far, I moved them all to Commons. There are no active administrators in Aromanian Wikipedia. Vandalism there stays for weeks or months. Yes, the rules about images extend to all Wikipedias. I am curious as to if you have any pages in mind to create. I will probably be able to tell if they would be deleted in English Wikipedia or not. In theory Aromanian Wikipedia would have the same rules on notability of articles but since there's no-one to enforce them I've found articles on figures which either have too little importance or too little sources for me to check whether they have importance or not. Again you need to make sure you can upload the picture. At the bottom of the page you took the picture from it says "All photos on the website are the property of Europeada gGmbH and may not be used without prior permission (except for the photos in the press section)." Also, you have to upload them in Wikimedia Commons [8], not in English Wikipedia.
